Mountaineer Anindya Mukherjee becomes the first Indian to bike his way from Tropic of Cancer to Capricorn in 69 days. Kolkata boy Mukherjee covered 5000 kms on a bicycle. The journey that started on June 24 came to an end on Sunday morning, when Mukherjee reached base at Walvis Bay.

There was overall disappointment in West Bengal after the railway budget as the state received little. It is still not known whether adequate allocations have been made for the ongoing projects in Bengal.

Phagwara  In a shocking incident paramour of a woman thrashed her three year old daughter to death on saturday. The accused had been thrashing the victim for the last sometime since the woman became pregnant from him.  Victim Sanjana's mother Shanti had dumped her husband Bheem Bhadaur, a Nepali migrant, around a year back to live with her paramour Rahul, a Bihari migrant in Dashmesh Nagar area.  She took along Sanjana also with her.

  It is learnt that two kids Mehak (5) and Sanjna (4), who were cousins, were part of the shobha yatra and were riding the trailer on which several other children and elders were also riding. They alighted the trailer near Partap Bagh with the help of a relative Nirmala but in the meantime the trailer took a turn and the kids were crushed under its heavy tyres.

   Two little girls were crushed to death by a big tractor trailer during Shobha Yatra on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti on Monday night at around 8 PM. Following the accident celebrations turned into mourning and angry members of Valmiki community damaged the truck also.

Skipper Gaurav Reddy - tiniest cager in the Ford Nagpur Competitive Basketball League - played a pivotal role in Raisoni Achievers triumph. Kolkata-based theatre group, Little Thespian, is all set to hold a festival on Tagore that will have young theatre groups staging their productions and Hindi/Urdu speakers across the nation coming together for a seminar. Titled Jash-e-Tagore, the festival will take place in the city between July 28 and 31.  

For the first time, the reality music contest for kids, "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs" will feature original compositions prepared by the mentors and rendered by the tiny contestants.   This season, the show will be judged by Adnan Sami, Kailash Kher and Jaaved Ali. A three year old girl was charred to death as a hut in a Gujjar dera caught fire in Darolli Kalan village on Saturday evening.

  An eight year old boy was stabbed to death while his year and a half old sister was left seriously injured    in their room in a plot on Cool Road.
