Adventure Time at San Diego Comic-Con
If you weren’t one of the 1800 fans who turned out for the Adventure Time panel the other week at San Diego Comic-Con you might want to soak in the fun vicariously through ArchiveTaxi’s YouTube videos (while you can). In part one we meet Pen, John, Jeremy, Olivia, Tom, Adam, Kent, and Rebecca. Rebecca duets with Donald Glover on “Bad Little Boy" and there are opening credits built from Legos.

Two Adventure Time-related music releases to report
First, Ashley Eriksson, whom you hear in the show’s closing credits theme ("Come along with me…" AKA “Island Song") has a solo album out on K Records. It’s called Colours.
Also, the new album from the band Lake is now available exclusively on bandcamp. Circular Doorway includes BMO’s favorite song, “No Wonder I." (You remember that one from the episode “Shh"… “every could has a silver lining"). It, too, features Ashley singing. Give it a listen (and a purchase, if you’re so inclined).

Is BMO from Adventure Time Expressive of Feminism?
The PBS Idea Channel has a new episode “analyzing BMO through a feminist’s lens." What do you think?
Yes he’s a video game system, but she is so much more than that!! BMO from the fantastic show Adventure Time identifies as both male and female, and because of that expresses the ideals of Third Wave Feminism!! Third Wave Feminism questions if gender is actually binary, tied to our biological sex. Is our understanding of masculinity and femininity fair, or even ACCURATE? Of course, BMO has no biological gender, so there’s no cultural expectations that anchors her (him?) down. But it all seems a non-issue in the Adventure Time world. What do you think, is BMO male or female? Or does it even matter? Watch the episode to find out!
