Thor's Jaimie Alexander "Horribly" Injured While in London Filming Sequel

By the power of the gods, Jaimie Alexander is going to be just fine.

But things could've been worse for the 28-year-old actress, who revealed on Twitter that a "horrible injury" has temporarily sidelined her from production in London on Thor: The Dark World.

"Today I sustained a pretty horrible injury. I'm lucky I'm not paralyzed," she tweeted on Monday. "Thank you (with all of my heart) to those who've looked after me."

Though it sounds possibly back-related, no word exactly what happened.

But Alexander—who played the Asgardian warrior Sif opposite Chris Hemsworth's hammer-wielding hero in the first Marvel film and is reprising her role for the sequel—subsequently landed in a hospital. Lucky for her, however, the prognosis looks good.

"Already in recovery mode and my spirits are high," she later wrote in an update. "I'll be back kicking ass as Lady Sif in no time! It can only get better from here on out!"

On Tuesday, the thesp thanked her fans and revealed that she was set to see a specialist, adding: "Received great news today! Meds are kicking in. Awesome funny nurses here at the hospital. Physio tomorrow. All good."

    Glad to hear.

Alexander was scheduled to be discharged sometime today, but her publicist tells E! News Alexander's tweet revealing her condition was a "preemptive measure on her part since the injury sustained occurred on set, but not while she was filming."

"That said, she didn't want reports to surface from another source and escalate to make it out to be worse than it was," said the rep. "She's making a swift and steady recovery and will be back in action as warrior Sif in no time with no delays to production."

Thor: The Dark World began principal photography earlier this month under the direction of Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) and is scheduled for release in November 2013.
