FORBES WOMEN’S SUMMIT:
POWER REDEFINED
Generations Unite To Change The World

On May 9, 2013, Forbes held a very different kind of Women’s Summit — not about women’s issues, but how a new generation of women redefining the notion of power through innovation and disruption can join forces with more traditional leaders to help solve society’s most difficult problems. (Kick-off Salon Dinners were held on the evening of Wednesday, May 8, 2013.) This cross-generational gathering was featured across Forbes desktop, tablet and print platforms, as part of the annual 100 Most Powerful Women’s List.

The Forbes Women’s Summit was a transformational and multigenerational meeting of 200 powerful minds: CEOs, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, innovators, disruptors, educators, heads of foundations and NGOs, artists, and politicians.

Attendance was by invitation only. Everyone in the room was an active participant. We made no distinction between ‘speaker’ and ‘attendee’ – all participants were invited specifically because they have something to add to this high-level peer-to-peer discourse, and everyone participated in the dialogue and innovative actions.

Featuring women from Forbes Most Powerful Women, 30 Under 30 and Celebrity 100, the Summit coincided with the 10th anniversary of the Most Powerful Women issue and launched a yearlong Forbes editorial initiative that taps into the size, influence and scope of Forbes' multiple platforms.

Only Forbes, with its 95-year-old message of entrepreneurial capitalism, can gather such ‘powerful minds’ from multiple spheres of influence.

The Forbes Women’s Summit: Power Redefined. Generations Unite To Change The World was held at 583 Park Avenue in New York City on Thursday, 9th of May 2013 from 8:00am to 5:30pm. #redefinepower

Visionary Builders: Investing Your “Power Capital” For The Highest Return
From building schools in Nepal to building a social movement using media and the arts, visionaries deploy resources in unconventional ways, often without the benefits of a roadmap. How do architects of change optimize their “power capital”—the ability to utilize the resources and networks within their respective spheres—to drive change? How can we all better optimize our power capital around key issues we champion?

From Think-Tank To Do-Tank
The world is filled with “what needs to be fixed” statements. Solving big problems isn’t just about great plans and great intentions; it requires a bolder way of thinking and doing. In this interactive session, we’ll meet the young entrepreneurs who “get stuff done,” and we’ll move from a think-tank to a do-tank world—a world of disruption, creativity, collaboration and courage—where power is redistributed to the risk-takers willing to take that first step that will turn their vision into reality.
