UPS to Extend its Brown Network into Atlantic Canada

Mississagua, ON, November 07, 2011

Multi-Million Dollar Investment Supports New Jobs

UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced it will soon expand its Canadian network by opening its own operations in Atlantic Canada.

UPS will begin to perform pickup and delivery services for its customers in Moncton and Halifax beginning in April 2012, replacing its current agent. Additional cities in the Atlantic provinces will be added to the network later in the year.

The expansion will further enhance UPS's already strong Canadian network and reputation for reliability while bringing the UPS brand to the Atlantic provinces, including the iconic brown trucks and uniforms worn by UPS drivers.

"We're truly excited about this expansion because it means we're extending to Atlantic Canada the superior level of service and shipping and logistics options for which UPS is recognized around the world," said UPS Canada President Mike Tierney. "The introduction of brown trucks to the region - driven by men and women who I believe represent the best service providers in the industry - strengthens our position in the Canadian market while supporting the needs of our customers."

The expansion, which represents a multi-million dollar investment and approximately 250 new UPS jobs, builds on the commitment UPS has shown to the Canadian market particularly in recent years with investments in Vancouver, Burlington, Toronto and Calgary. UPS has been a long-standing employer in New Brunswick with its customer contact centre, accounting and brokerage functions located in the province. The UPS Store network also operates locations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick.

UPS began the expansion of its global network into Canada in 1975. Over the past 36 years, that network has grown to include a delivery fleet of 2,500 vehicles, almost 10,000 employees and more than 85 daily airline flight segments. Another 1,900 employees provide logistics and distribution, freight forwarding and customs brokerage services to Canadian customers.
