RIP - EFMS

Great show and really liked looking in to the history of some games as found out stuff, and some games, I never knew existed around my favourite titles. The format of the show was perfect and often laugh out loud so looking forward to The Point if the format will remain. keep it up Danny - you doing another 24hr marathon this year?

Thanks Danny, awesome job as usual.

Time to revisit Fallout New Vegas I think. Started playing Skyrim recently, so many design traits remind me of Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Personally I find Skyrim lacking a very important hook - the amazing universe. I'll get back to Skyrim at some stage, perhaps. Time to once again revisit the irradiated wastes!

Why is this now called "Escape from mt stupid"? I've been meaning to ask for a while, since I really liked the name "Bluffers Guide to..."

I liked FO but the video game industry is worth more than 80$Billion dollars a year, why is this feature still front tab? Surely there's more current news about the industry?

Apologies for bringing this up here, but:  Where are new episodes of Random Encounter, Combo Breaker, and EFMS?  It seems like RE and CB were killed off from our perspective :(  I really hope that this is not true, because you fellows have brought a lot of joy to my time at work and beyond when I share your videos.  Gamespot.co.uk redirects me to the US site, too :(

Hope you guys are still gainfully and enjoyably employed.  I bought Pure Football, and as someone who does not follow sports, it is a damn blast to play that $5 game with my girlfriend.

Funny, I just started playing New Vegas again for what seems like the 30th time the other day.   Hardcore mode, very hard difficulty with the JE Sawyer mod ... it actually makes the game feel fresh and challenging with all of those weight restrictions, scarcity of ammo, dying of thirst, etc.  It never seems to get old.

Hopefully Bethesda lets Obisdian do another sister project to go alongside FO4.  Not to say that I didn't like FO3 (it was pretty good) it's just that it always felt like a giant amusement park compared to the grit and nuance presented in New Vegas.

i wish i was experiencing fo3 and nv for the first time. that was a game that fit my personality. not like these elves and troll games they keep churning out day after day. and the mobiles have just made it worse. 'dungeon looter', 'dragon killer', 'ogre mash' .. why is it always this crap? gimme some futuristic, post-apocalyptic, shadowrunning shit anyday over a fairy

jampoz

@lordslum Hell yeah, right on spot. A well done Shadowrun would be a good change. I'm still playing both Genesis and Super Nes versions. Never ever tried the RPG even if I was an RPG player, I just love the theme. Renders amazingly in a game, freaking huge potential and Fallout shows just that.

The game is great, the only trouble during our enjoyment time is the lagg/latency then the bugs that crash/freeze the game/system...

Bleh, good times though!

Good job with the history..

Given how well put together the other games in the series are, I can certainly understand the negativity toward "Brotherhood of Steel," but I honestly really enjoy that one.  Still.  It had the attitude and atmosphere of other installments, but just played like more of an action game than a strategic turn/grid-based rpg or a first-person exploration adventure.

When I get a faster computer to play on, I can't wait to dive farther into Fallout 3 and New Vegas, though.  I wanted those many years ago when they came out, and now that I have them on Steam, really looking forward to seeing where they go.

Danny, I think these shows that you do may be the best shows about gaming ever made. I love watching them.

About this one... not sure if you mentioned it, but there was a Fallout MMO in development by Interplay for the longest time. Even after they sold the IP.

Also, I think New Vegas has the largest amount of mods ever made for a game (although Skyrim will soon overtake that).  Neverwinter Nights is also high up there... but I think New Vegas surpassed it.

Nowadays I spend more money than ever before on games. Yet despite that, 99% of the time I end up playing mods for old games. Good mods take years to make, but always surpass the quality of  original games.

jampoz

@decebal No shit? New Vegas has more mods than Skyrim? Seriously?

I loved all the games. I grew up playing the first two. Years after, when 3 came out, I didn't know what to expect, but it blew me away. I can see why others would have issues with it, but for me, it was just amazing. Exploring abandoned vualts in first person, sifting through empty bottles and cans for loot. Yeah, games don't do looting like fallout 3 and NV (Except for TES). Played all of them on PC, and never had major issues with bugs. So my overall experience with the Fallout series is damn near perfect. I'm all for new and innovative games, but when it comes to a new fallout, I'll take it any day.

The reason why so many fallout fans hate Bethesda? Bethesda may do many things good, graphics, beautiful worlds, etc etc. However their games notoriously have sallow characters and lacking in atmosphere (I hated 100's of 2 sentences characters with 3-4 voice actors) severe game unbalances. You can't blame these to engine' errors etc. While Interplay and Blackisle's game were quite deep and had compelling stories (Baldur's gate 1-2, fallout 1-2 etc) complex game mechanics. So it is like whole 2 different game.

I wish game could be both good looking and more have context. well if not, there is still modding community thankfully

@tonyukuk Hate Bethesda? That's bullshit. Yeah they need more voice actors, but man their games are simply huge.  They build massive and passionate worlds.. Hopefully they figure out how to breath more life into their characters moving forward, but none of this justifies hatred in any way.

Red_lath

@thermalmotion @tonyukuk I take their game like a sandbox, where I can go somewhere different and amazing to do impossible things - Or can you say Terraria / Minecraft are really bad games cuz voice acting and inexistent story?....

I loved Fallout 3, and decided to trade in my copy of it to get the GOTY Edition when it came out. Then I found out that the game is completely fucking broken and freezes often enough that it's practically unplayable. I held out for a patch, but it never came because Bethesda simply doesn't give a flying fuck about it's customers. NEVER buying another Fallout product ever again.

wwlettsome

@Generic_Dude  I played through the GOTY edition on the 360 and never found it to be broken. Bugs and freezes yes because that's Bethesda and I sure wish the gaming press would stop giving them such a pass on that in reviews. They do a crap job on their QA and patches. Been playing DLC on Skyrim lately and that f-ing game has frozen up on me at least once per gaming session. Love Bethesda's games but hate their quality.

@Generic_Dude I played the GOTY version on the PS3, and I see what you mean. But on PC the game runs perfectly, as well as the rest of Bethesda games.
