  • Writing Assignment: Great E3 Expectations

Your assignment is to write up and editorial reflecting on the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo. Deadline to have your entries submitted for this Chalk Talk features is Saturday, June 8th.

Need help becoming inspired? Consider the following topics:

    - What does Nintendo need to do to regain lost traction. What does M$ have to do to regain our trust and calm our fears. And what does the PS4 have to do to keep moving forward?

    - What are you expecting from the new IP's that are expected to show during E3? Do you have high hopes or calculated concerns in regards to these new titles?

    - Consider the cost of progression. Given the recent concerns regarding privacy surrounding the X1 (and possibly the PS4) do you feel that we are becoming dangerously dependent on being connected?

    - What are the games that you are most excited to see this year at E3? Which do you think will be the game to win over the people choice awards, becoming a day one purchase for core gamers?

    - Are you excited about the new shows being generated around and about E3? If not, what do you expect to see from news outlets to help re-ignite your spark?

Chalk Talk submissions must include the following:
    - Entries must be a minimum of 500 words.
    - Do not use altered text fonts, colors, and be aware of your formatting.
    - Select at least one 400x400 image to act as a "cover shot".

Submissions are due by June 8th, at 5:00pm PST, please submit as either a link in the comments below or in the official announcement in the Writers Round Table.

  • Writing Assignment - Nintendo

    Nintendo

Your assignment is to write up an editorial focusing on the Nintendo, their past, present, and future. Deadline to have your entries submitted is May 3rd, at 12:00pm PST

During the week that went by Nintendo held one of their many Nintendo Direct live streams. It left many users with an overall positive impression, however at the same time Nintendo once again ignited discussion and a great many flame wars.

For this weeks Chalk Talk we will be taking a look at Nintendo.

Need some Inspiration? Consider the following topics:

    - Nintendo as of late seems to rely to much on nostalgia and well established worn out brands. Is this a good thing? Do they need to reinvent the wheel or if it's not broken should they not worry about fixing it?

    - Consider Nintendo's announcement about not having a Press Conference during E3 2013 because they wish to "Utilize our direct communication tools, such as Nintendo Direct, to deliver information to our Japanese audience and we will take the same approach outside Japan for the overseas fans." Is this a smart play for them or is this writing on the wall.

    - Will the Wii U become profitable? It's been shown that the Wii U has not been quite the hot ticket that Nintendo had hoped it would be (according to profits from the last fiscal year). But according to Nintendo they have plans to change that. What would you do to help improve the Wii U's image? Or do you feel that the Wii U simply has a bad due to baseless claims from "Nintendo Hater".

Chalk Talk submissions must include the following:
    - Entries must be a minimum of 500 words
    - Do not use altered text fonts, colors, and be aware of your formatting.
    - Select at least one image to act as your "cover shot".
    - Submissions are due May 3rd, at 12:00pm PST, please submit as a link in the comments below.

Important Note! There will be no Chalk Talk Feature posted on May 10th.

  • Writing Assignment: The Pokemon Paradigm

Your assignment is to write up an editorial focusing on the palatial Pokemon production. Deadline to have your entries submitted is April 25th, at 12:00pm PST

Need some inspiration? Consider the following topics:

    - How do you feel about the Pokemon game franchise at this point? Has its decisions to continue to add more beyond the original 150 been a positive experience, or do you perhaps feel that in this particular case less is more and the ever growing numbers of creatures to catch is bogging down the game?

    - If you could revolutionize the franchise by rebooting it, how would you start over? Would you go back to the way things were with Pokemon Red and Blue or would you completely retool the mythos that's been created.

    - How do you feel about the current online Pokemon tournaments? Do you feel that this is just another eSport or do you think that this is a great way for players to immerse themselves in PokeCulture?

    - Where do you think the game will be in the next three years, how about the next five years?

Chalk Talk submissions must include the following:
    - Entries must be a minimum of 500 words
    - Do not use altered text fonts, colors, and be aware of your formatting.
-Select at least one image to act as your "cover shot".
Submissions are due by April 25th, at 12:00pm PST, please submit as either a link in the comments below or the announcement in the Writers Round Table.
