Banvit tabs playmaker Rowland

Rowland (1.88 meters, 30 years old) comes off a standout season with VEF Riga, whom he led to the Latvian League title and within one win of the Eurocup quarterfinals. He averaged 15.5 points and 4.8 assists in 12 Eurocup games and was the Last 16 Week 2 MVP after putting up 30 points against eventual finalist Uxue Bilbao Basket. Rowland also collected VTB United League regular season MVP honors after tallying 17.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 2 steals per game. Rowland has past Euroleague experience with Unicaja Malaga in the 2011-12 season. He has also played for Telekom Baskets Bonn and Artland Dragons in Germany, Barons/LMT Riga in Latvia, Vanoli Cremona in Italy, Sydney Kings and Townsville Crocodiles in Australia, as well as for Florida Flame in the NBA Development League. Rowland helped Artland to win the German Cup title in 2008. He has also been a member of the Bulgarian national team and played at EuroBasket 2009 and 2011.
