Documentary filmmaker Sean Dunne is no stranger to Vimeo. Starting with his first short film, 2008's The Archive, Sean has been Staff Picked an impressive four times, and 2011's American Juggalo was viewed by a whopping 1.5M people. This track record is one of the reason's we're very pleased and proud to host Sean's 2013 Tribeca award-winning debut feature Oxyana on our Vimeo On Demand service starting today!

Sean's work demonstrates a fascination with everyday people and the extraordinary stories that exist all around us. The people he interviews for his films, like wise-crackin' bowling hustler Rocky Salemmo, restless runner/musician Jonny Corndawg, or living-in-a-van Manhattanite Jimmy Tarangelo, are true characters in the best sense of the term. They could also be categorized as living on the fringes of society, which was especially the case when Sean and crew visited the Gathering of the Juggalos to talk with the oft-mocked and misunderstood fans who flock to the annual event, or when he traveled to Oceana, West Virginia to seek out the stories of drug addicts wrecked by the town's staggering pill addiction.

Hey there you wittle guysss,

This weekend, we want to tap into a talent that every person has inherently, deep in the core of your being—documenting your pet. The subject matter is the easy part, but how you choose to film them is up to you. Think about the unique qualities of your animal of choice, and let that influence your style.

Take these two videos by Matt Wiebe; in the first, the sleepy pugs are captured with still shots from multiple angles so that we may bask in their stillness:

Adobe After Effects celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, and launched After Effects® CC this month. The latest version features a “Live 3D Pipeline that brings Cinema 4D scenes in as layers – without intermediate rendering.” We had the opportunity to chat with After Effects Senior Experience Designer and Vimeo PRO Member, Troy Church, about everything from working for Adobe to the importance of unplugging to the future of interactive design.

VVS: So, who are ya?

TC: My name is Troy Church. I’ve been on the After Effects team for about seven-and-a-half years, but have been using After Effects since version 2.0. I started off as a motion graphic designer. When I first saw After Effects and the work created with it, literally within the first year or so of it being invented, I was floored. I immediately tried to get a copy. It was a couple thousand dollars back then and I got a copy and began using it. This was the early 90s and I started using programs like QuickTime, After Effects, and digital video in general to make my living.

Hey there, acute-ys,

If you're like me, you've been thinking you need a creative workout. Well, we want to help you get into shapes this summer! This weekend is all about basic geometry and finding shapes out in the world. Maybe it's the same thing in different shapes, like rooftops or street signs, or maybe it's different things with the same shape, like the circles in Everynone's video:
