Yo nimo Kimyō na Man-gatarō Manga Gets Video Adaptation

Avant-garde gag manga from creator of Battlefield Baseball, Babāzone

This year's 18th issue of Shueisha's Business Jump magazine has announced on Wednesday that a video adaptation of the Yo nimo Kimyō na Man-gatarō (Extremely Bizarre Man-gatarō) manga has been green-lit. Business Jump provides no other details about the Yo nimo Kimyō na Man-gatarō video, including whether the project will be animated, live-action, or something else entirely.

Man-gatarō is the avant-garde gag manga creator who also created the Jigoku Kōshien spoof of martial arts and sports; that earlier Weekly Shonen Jump title became Yudai Yamaguchi's live-action Battlefield Baseball film starring Tak Sakaguchi (Versus, SHINOBI, Azumi, Cromartie High: The Movie). Yamaguchi directed another live-action project based on Man-gatarō's Babāzone anthology of manga shorts. Both Babāzone and Yo nimo Kimyō na Man-gatarō are collections of surreal gag stories that parody many different subjects.
