News Ghost in the Shell: Arise 1 Earns 36 Million Yen in Theaters

The first volume of the Ghost in the Shell Arise anime, Ghost in the Shell Arise border: 1 Ghost Pain, sold about 30,000 tickets for 36,076,200 yen (about US$369,000) in theaters this past weekend. The film was released on June 22, and it ranked #8 in weekend box office receipts, and #1 in highest per-screen average. The film also ranked #4 on the TOHO Cinemas theater chain.
The movie is based on Masamune Shirow's original manga. The next volume, Ghost in the Shell Arise Border 2: Ghost Whispers, will open in theaters on November 30. Similar to Border 1, there will be a limited run in theaters with advance DVD/Blu-ray Disc sales, and the DVD and Blu-ray discs will then be released at retail on December 25.

Overall it is easy to see that Majestic Prince is trying. At this point whether or not it succeeds is up to the tastes of the individual viewer, but with the vague but troubling sensation that things could go wrong at any moment, there is enough to keep us watching.
Tobikage isn't the best show out there in terms of animation, plot, or overall coherency, but it is absolutely a ton of fun.
