Between now and June 28, the deadline for Emmy voters to submit nomination ballots, EW.com will feature interviews with some of the actors and actresses whose names we hope to hear when nominations are announced on July 18.

USA’s limited series Political Animals only had a six-episode run last summer, but it left quite an impact thanks to stellar writing and acting, including co-star James Wolk. The actor, most recently seen this season on Mad Men as Bob Benson, played Douglas Hammond, the chief of staff to his mother, Elaine Barrish, who decided to run for president. While Douglas seemed like the perfect son, »

'Mad Men' season 6 finale ratings best yet

It was no tightrope walk. But AMC’s Mad Men finale ratings Sunday evening were the highest in the show’s history.

The sixth season finale had 2.7 million viewers. That’s up just a tad from the fifth season closer last year. Overall the show is averaging 2.5 million this season.

AMC’s president praised the numbers: “There is nothing else on television like Mad Men, and for the series in its sixth season to deliver the highest-rated finale ever – and an episode that critics and fans have already declared an instant classic – is a testament to everyone who brings this world to life, »

Emmy Watch: Jeff Perry on baring everything for 'Scandal'

Between now and June 28, the deadline for Emmy voters to submit nomination ballots, EW.com will feature interviews with some of the actors and actresses whose names we hope to hear when nominations are announced on July 18.

Scandal is not a show for the emotionally faint. ABC’s soapy political melodrama reached dramatic heights in season 2, when creator Shonda Rhimes treated devoted viewers to a two-story arc full of murders, lies, secret identities, and an assassination attempt. But before the mole, Rowan, and Captain Jake Ballard, there was the original sin of Scandal — the election rigging.

Rhimes shrewdly structured the »

CW fall 2013 premiere dates revealed

The Vampire Dairies isn’t coming back until October. Same for Arrow and Hart of Dixie. And those new CW shows like Reign and Tomorrow People? Yeah, October. For the second year in a row, CW is preferring to avoid the late September demo-derby of premieres launched by the Big 4 networks and instead is waiting for some dust to settle before launching its lineup (the network figures the strategy  worked out pretty well for Arrow last fall). CBS is once again launching nearly everything during the traditional premiere week, while NBC is taking a somewhat more staggered approach.

Here’s The CW’s schedule below, »

'Skywire' tightrope walk breaks ratings record

Discovery’s tightrope-walking stunt not only made history, it also broke a few of the network’s ratings records.

Skywire Live With Nik Wallenda averaged 8.5 million viewers Sunday night across the show’s two-and-a-half hours. The live coverage peaked with 13 million viewers during the walk segment (from 9:10 to 10:20 p.m. Et).

The Grand Canyon crossing marked Discovery’s highest-rated live event ever in all key demos, and was the network’s top-rated special in 13 years (since Walking With Dinosaurs and Raising the Mammoth).

For those who missed it, Wallenda became the first person to ever successfully walk across »

'Devious Maids' ratings not so bueno

One thing about Lifetime’s Devious Maids that wasn’t stereotypical: The ratings.

The new drama series from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry got off to a somewhat sluggish start on Sunday night, delivering 2 million viewers for its premiere episode. By comparison, other Lifetime dramas such as Drop Dead Diva, The Client List and Army Wives have pulled numbers closer to the 3 million mark (Client and Drop Dead both had 2.8 million for their premieres).

The show follows the lives of four Latina maids working amongst the rich and crazy in SoCal. Critics have given the show mixed-to-positive reviews. Here’s »

Emmy Watch: 'Homeland' actor David Harewood on Estes' unwavering love for Carrie

Between now and June 28, the deadline for Emmy voters to submit nomination ballots, EW.com will feature interviews with some of the actors and actresses whose names we hope to hear when nominations are announced on July 18.

It was often hard to tell what David Estes (played by David Harewood) is thinking on Homeland. As director of the CIA, he had to remain calm and collected, rarely breaking for a vulnerable moment, constantly calculating his next move. Claire Danes gets a lot of deserved credit for her stirring portrayal of a character so intelligent, yet constantly on the edge. Mandy Patinkin »

He’ll be joined by returning guest-star Shirley MacLaine, who crossed the pond to play Cora’s brazen mother, Martha Levinson, in season three.

After canceling on the Today show Friday morning citing ‘exhaustion,’ Paula Deen will return to the morning program for an interview this Wednesday, Matt Lauer announced today.

Deen, of course, is in hot water after admitting to saying racial slurs and other offensive comments in the past, things she admitted during a deposition for a civil suit against her and her brother from a former employee, which alleges that the former employee was sexually harassed and “worked in a hostile environment rife with innuendo and racial slurs.”

Goldberg was an experienced TV writer of 1970s programs like Lou Grant, The Tony Randall Show, and The Bob Newhart Show when he built Family Ties in 1982 for NBC, basing the idealistic hippie parents played by Michael Gross and Meredith Baxter on himself and his wife, Dr. Diana Meehan. 'True Blood': Jurnee Smollett-Bell talks joining the cast and her mysterious debut as Nicole

On True Blood, craziness is to be expected. It’s when things seem downright normal — like with the arrival of new character Nicole — that it begins to get creepy. Nicole debuted in the standard way last night, by stopping by Merlotte’s with friends before announcing that she knew a bit more than she was letting on: She was aware Sam is a shifter and wants to help the supernatural cause.

Prior to the season starting, EW called up Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who plays vampire-rights activist Nicole, to talk about joining the sexy supernatural drama. Smollett-Bell, a Friday Night Lights alum »

'Mad Men': Matthew Weiner dishes on the season 6 finale

[Spoiler Alert: Do not read until you have watched Sunday night's season finale of Mad Men.] When the penultimate season of Mad Men drew to a close, we witnessed the break of Don: Jon Hamm’s enigmatic ad exec snapped out of an alcohol-fueled haze of shame-spiraling and self-sabotage by deciding to get honest with himself and shine a light on his past, even if this dismantling of his inauthentic life might have very well cost him his job and his marriage. In the final moments of “In Care Of,” he brought his three children to a dicey part of town and showed them the rundown whorehouse where he spent his early years, and that’s »

'True Blood': Sookie's new love interest teases what's to come (hint: plenty of nudity)

Last night on True Blood, it’s no exaggeration to say sparks flew when Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) met fellow halfling Ben Flynn. In episodes to come, Ben will help Sookie investigate Warlow, the ancient vampire who murdered Sookie’s parents, which means the two fairies are sure to grow closer. And judging from the steamy season 6 promo, the relationship is bound to ruffle some shippers’ feathers. Rob Kazinsky, who plays Ben, talked to EW about his many (I repeat, many!) nude scenes in store, why Ben’s a better match for Sookie than her supenatural exes, and how he expects fans to react. »
