Mageia 2 On Approach, Rocks 6.0 Released

Posted by Michael Larabel on May 10, 2012

In some more non-Ubuntu news this week, the release candidate for Mageia 2 is now available. Rocks 5.5 and Rocks 6.0 was also released.

The Mageia 2 release candidate was delayed, which also pushed back the final Mageia 2 release, but at least is available as of this week. The release notes, download links, and other information for Mageia 2 RC can be found here. The final release of Mageia 2 is expected on the 22nd of May.

In other Linux distribution news, Rocks "Mamba" was released. Rocks Mamba 5.5 is based upon CentOS 5.8 while Rocks Mamba 6.0 is based upon CentOS 6.2. Rocks is self-described as an "open-source toolkit for real and virtual clusters." The changes for Rocks follows the upstream CentOS/RHEL changes like KVM virtualization, etc. Rocks Linux comes out of the University of California at San Diego and elsewhere. Details on Rocks Mamba at RocksClusters.org.
