Japanese Box Office, April 30-May 1

Detective Conan: Quarter of Silence, the 15th anime film based on Gosho Aoyama's Detective Conan manga, rose back from #2 to #1 in its third weekend. With the start of the Golden Week holidays, it increased its weekend box office take over the previous weekend; it added US$4,481,344 more on 334 screens for a new total of US$21,703,991.

Gantz: Perfect Answer, the second live-action film based on Hiroya Oku's Gantz manga, dropped from #1 to #2 in its second weekend. It earned the equivalent of US$4,209,206 on 375 screens for a cumulative total of US$16,349,305.

Eiga Crayon Shin-chan: Arashi o Yobu Ōgon no Spy Daisakusen, this year's film based on Yoshito Usui's Crayon Shin-chan comedy manga, stayed at #3 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart but stayed at #4 on Box Office Mojo's chart. In its third weekend, it added US$2,073,896 on 325 screens to its gross-to-date of US$8,003,656.

Tōfu Kozō, the 3D computer-animated film adaptation of the Tōfu Kozō Sugoroku-dōchū Furidashi novel by Natsuhiko Kyogoku (Loups-Garous, Mōryō no Hako, Requiem from the Darkness), was #7 in its first weekend with US$1,143,140 on 422 screens. Since it opened two days earlier on April 28, its cumulative box office take was US$1,561,409.

OOO, Den-O, All Riders: Let's Go Kamen Riders, the film which celebrates the Toei movie company's 60th anniversary and the Kamen Rider franchise's 40th anniversary with all 28 Kamen Rider heroes and special guests, dropped from #5 to #8 in its fifth weekend. It earned the equivalent of US$837,795 on 292 screens for a cumulative total of US$13,529,419.

Onigamiden (Legend of the Millennium Dragon), Hirotsugu Kawasaki and Studio Pierrot's film adaptation of a historical novel by Takafumi Takada, ended the weekend at #12 with US$470,325 on 77 screens. Since it opened one day earlier on April 29, its cumulative box office take was US$536,664.

Doraemon: Shin Nobita to Tetsujin Heidan - Habatake Tenshi-tachi, Yukiyo Teramoto and Shinei Animation's remake of the 1986 film Doraemon: Nobita to Tetsujin Heidan (Doraemon: Nobita and the Platoon of Iron Men), stayed at #13 in its ninth weekend. It earned US$299,479 on 291 screens for a total-to-date of US$27,926,061.

Precure All-Stars DX3 Mirai ni Todoke! Sekai o Tsunagu Niji-Iro no Hana and the live-action film adaptation of Kazune Kawahara's High School Debut manga are no longer listed on either chart.
