We were already impressed years ago when Skype was first introduced on a full OS, but when its video call features are applied on a mobile OS, it gets even better.
The familiar blue-and-white interface makes a comeback in the mobile version of Skype. Things are a little simplified, of course, but the critical elements are easily accessible. You can quickly build up your contact list with the option to import all of your contact information from your phone's list. The call quality was high in our tests, and the video calls didn't lag and appeared very natural. This version of Skype adds the option to use your back camera as an alternate video feed unit in case you want to show something to the person you are talking to, which helped make calls seem even more dynamic. Skype communication standards are still applicable with the mobile version, so there are no additional charges if you contact another smartphone that also uses the Skype app.
With this version, we think that Skype brings one of the best VoIP experiences that you can have for a mobile unit. Recommended for any user.

"Can't live without it, good for draining battery."

Pros
Connect to many contact easily, both IM and voice/video calls are supported. I cannot do without it just like I cannot do without my phone.
Cons
Very good at draining the battery, why? Takes away from it's usefulness. 4G-LTE calls were dropping frequently. Still need wi-fi to be reliable during the call.
Summary
Fix the battery drainage issue and this will be 5+ star App!

Was impressed with the apps ability to switch between wifi and 3G. There was very little lag.
Skype calls have better voice quality than cell calls.Cons

I can chat with my friends on Skype whenever I don't have an Internet connection, Skype is kind of self explanatory
Cons
No video-calling for HTC Thunderbolt (despite the cellphone having a camera in the front), and the program malfunctions often
Summary
Not much I can say here except that Skype needs to improve the Android version of their application. Sure, it is nice that I can IM friends on my cellphone since a lot of them don't use other IM services. But I would really like to be able to video call with my close friends - I am deaf and I cannot use the voice call feature. If I want to chat with my friend using the video call feature, I have to use my iPod Touch (4th generation) instead. However that can be quite limiting since Skype only works if I have access to wi-fi on my iPod, and I don't always have access to wi-fi there. That's my only main gripe about Skype though.
I also have this problem where Skype stops working after a while. If I sign out of Skype but leave the app running on my HTC Thunderbolt, when I try to sign back on Skype, sometimes I keep getting an error saying that it cannot connect due to the network or something like that. I have no choice but to go through my apps settings and force stop Skype in order for it to work again. It'd be nice if I didn't have to do that.
Basically, to put it briefly, I have mixed feelings about Skype on Android phones. It works to fulfill some of my needs/wants but it definitely needs improvement. If Skype could just add video calling to the app for more Android phones then I'd be far more satisfied. -

Summary
It doesn't support Video Calling on many devices, partly because it doesn't want to (that remains my opinion).
For instance, I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 (the international version, non branded), I can video chat with Oovoo but I can't with Skype. As a leader in the industry, Skype should offer Video calling on all devices with a front camera.
I've actually talked to their tech support which was inconclusive, I was told my device didn't have sufficient specs to support Video Calling by Skype...
By the way, T-Mobile Video Chat by Qik works fine on my device. Yet is a Skype software. That software was in fact out long before Skype Video Calling ever appeared on any Android device.
Skype won't do Video on my device.
Qik will, and it's developed by Skype... Qik is actually a carrier branded software.
Skype Video Calling is only available to a handful of Android "technically capable" devices.
See my dilemma...?
My theory coming from my observations, facts, and follow up conversation with their tech support is that they're selling the exclusivity of their Video Chat capabilities to certain devices or cellular carriers.
That's only a theory, but it does make sense, doesn't it...? -

Summary
Why anyone running Android would use Skype is beyond me. You can configure Google voice to be fully integrated with the phone and directly bypass your carrier's ultra-expensive international rates. Get it and forget Skype.
