John S. Sequeira

John Sequeira joined the Technical Secretariat of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) as Director of Administration in January 2011, following almost four years in a similar position at the Provisional Technical Secretariat of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) in Vienna. 

Prior to this he had over twenty years of experience as a career Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State.  His overseas assignments included tours at U.S. Embassies in Lagos, Bangkok, and Manila, as well as the U.S. Consulate in Johannesburg and the U.S. Mission to International Organizations in Vienna.  His service in Washington included a tour as Deputy Director of the office of Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Island Affairs.  From 1980-82 he was a volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Mindanao, the Philippines.

Mr. Sequeira received a Masters degree in International Relations from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from George Mason University.

He is married with two adult children.
