[edit] Ownership and status

EE Times was launched in 1972 by Gerard G. Leeds of CMP Publishing. CMP was acquired by United in 1999. After the turn of the millennium, with the rise of Internet publishing and under new ownership after sale of CMP Media by the Leeds family in 1999 for over $900 million to United Business Media, EE Times moved more into web publishing. The shift in advertising from print to online began to accelerate in 2007 and EE Times shed staff to adjust to the downturn in revenue.

[edit] Availability

EE Times is free for qualified design engineers, managers and business and corporate management in the electronics industry. It is also available online, the EE Times website offers news, columns, and features articles for semiconductor manufacturing, communications, electronic design automation, electronic engineering, technology, and products. In November 2012 UBM Electronics announced that the December 2012 issue of EE Times would be the last in print. In 2013 EE Times will be an online product only.

[edit] Content

EE Times online offers design and engineering resources for engineers and engineering managers involved in the electronics sector and provides users with a host of education resources, which range from webinars to online courses to a research library of white papers. In July 2010 EE Times relaunched eetimes.com bring together all of the web sites associated with EE Times including embedded.com and Techonline.com under one integrated site and launched the industry's first social media and networking site "EE Life" within eetimes.com.
