Patch 5.2 hotfixes for April 29th and 30th, nerf to Lei Shen

Throne of Thunder
There were a few hotfixes posted earlier this week, on both Monday and Tuesday. On the 29th, both Glorious Conquest Quartermasters took leave from the game for a while. Daxxarri explains in a forum thread that, because Glorious Conquest gear is changing from ilevel 512 to 496, they wanted to remove the vendors before players purchased gear that would end up being a lower ilevel than they bought it for. The change is too big to be implemented via hotfix, so the vendors will be returning with the next major content patch.

The hotfix for yesterday was a nerf to the Lei Shen encounter in the Throne of Thunder for Raid Finder groups. Lei Shen's overall hit points have been reduced by 10%, and the Static Shock effect from the North Conduit now deals only 300,000 damage at zero energy, down from 650,000. That's a big change, and hopefully will make that encounter a little simpler for struggling Raid Finder groups.

Patch 5.2 hotfixes for April 22

Twin Consorts
Some hotfixes went live today after the server restart. The big one that has my guildmates jumping up and down with glee is the change to the cost of Mogu Runes of Fate - they now cost 50 Lesser Charms of Good Fortune, down from 90 previously. Now, I do lots of dailies, so I couldn't get rid of my Lesser Charms fast enough even before the price nerf, but this is a great quality of life change that will give people more Runes of Fate to spend on chances for gear.

In addition, players picked from different realms will now be able to get loot and bonus rolls off of Oondasta and Nalak, and there are some minor nerfs to the Twin Consorts fight in Throne of Thunder. The Sinister Primal Diamond has also had some tweaks to its activation rate, particularly for fire mages. The full blue text is below the cut.

Patch 5.2 hotfixes for April 16

Patch 52 Hotfixes for April 16
The latest set of hotfixes are here, and as you'd expect, a lot of them relate to the Throne of Thunder raid, the last Raid Finder wing of which opened yesterday in the US, and today in the EU. Amongst the abilities and elements which have suffered nerfs, Durumu will now pause for longer after his "Eye Sores" -- the maze of purple doom -- before starting up his regular attacks again. Tortos' whirl turtles have now had an issue removed where, just occasionally, they would proceed towards the boss at what seemed like a glacially slow speed, even when kicked in a timely fashion!

What's more, there have been several nerfs to heroic boss abilites, which implies that, with the world first race over, heroic progression might not be going quite as quickly as the development team had imagined. Again, these are targeted nerfs to specific abilities, and to a few bugs, such as Iron Qon's champions trying to reposition themselves. However, Heroic Primordius has taken a flat 11% health nerf in both 10-man and 25-man heroic difficulty.

There have also been several adjustments to the procs of the Legendary meta gems, with changes being made to both Clearcasting and Fortitude which should allow them to function correctly. Hit the break for the full changes!

Patch 5.2 hotfixes for April 10

Patch 52 hotfixes for April 10
Yesterday's hotfixes may have been a short list, but today's list, just released on the official blog, are slightly more substantial. While there are a few quest fixes and tweaks, the majority of today's list of hotfixes involve the Throne of Thunder raid. Players that are currently raiding in a 10-man group may want to take a look at the list, because damage has been reduced for many of the bosses and boss abilities.
  • Just in case yesterday's Durumu changes weren't enough, Durumu's Disintegration Beam now dissipates sooner before reaching the end of the Maze of Death™.
  • Whirl Turtles on 10-man normal mode Tortos now have a reduced base movement speed.
  • Both the Brutal Talisman of the Shado-Pan Assault and the Vicious Talisman of the Shado-Pan Assault have had their effects adjusted in the case of PvP vs. PvE.

Read on for the full list of hotfixes.

Bashiok clarifies changes to Durumu

Durumu the Forgotten
Last night, Blizzard released some hotfixes that mostly focused on the Durumu encounter in Throne of Thunder. Today on the general forums, community manager Bashiok has responded to a few player questions and clarified some of the rationale behind the changes, as well as announcing that another small hotfix to the encounter will be deployed later today. This newest change will see the death-beam during the maze phase dissipating slightly sooner than before, to balance against the fact that it now moves faster than it did prior to the hotfixes. The sum of these changes should help out those players who were struggling with the fight due to graphics and visuals.

Just wanted to follow up with some additional information, as we've seen a few questions since the changes.

In a hotfix yesterday, we changed two elements of the Durumu Eye Sore mechanic, or the "maze" as it's more commonly known. First off, we applied a small client patch to increase the visual fidelity of the fill graphic itself, giving the effect less vertical height and hopefully making it easier to see the safe spots as they appear. Feedback on this change has generally been positive. Separately, at the same time we made some adjustments to the logic of how the maze is drawn with respect to the movement of the Disintegration Beam. One of the less intuitive aspects of the original maze mechanic was how it would begin drawing behind you, and how the right thing to do was actually to turn around and back up, towards the approaching death beam, in order to safely enter the forming maze. Why would any sane person want to move closer to a death beam?!

We generally are extremely cautious about making gameplay adjustments to encounters once players have already learned them, but in this case the opening of the Halls of Flesh-Shaping LFR wing highlighted the fact that the mechanic was a particular source of confusion to many players, and the longer we waited to make any adjustment, the more disorienting it would be if we did change anything. So what we did was make the maze immediately begin drawing in front of the player as the beam activates, so that you never need to turn around and run towards the beam. This also effectively gives players a slight head-start on the beam as it begins to move. To maintain the same sense of urgency, the beam does move slightly more quickly now, so that it will, over the course of the phase, catch up to players and negate that head start. But the player movement required once you're actually running the maze should be unchanged. We have noted, however, that at the very end of the maze sequence, it can now feel like the fast-approaching death ray is going to reach you, making it feel like you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. To address that concern, we are making another adjustment today, which will cause the death ray to dissipate a few seconds earlier at the end of the maze.

Patch 52 hotfixes for April 9
Hot on the heels of yesterday's batch of hotfixes is another short and sweet edition of tweaks. • Talents
      • Powershot now has a 25% decrease to damage, cast time, cooldown, and focus cost.
Raids, Dungeons and Scenarios

      • Safe spots in the maze of Eye Sores now appear earlier, before the Disintegration Beam starts moving.
      • Adjustments were made to visual effects for Eye Sores to make it easier to see the maze.
    • Primordius
      • Mutated Abomination effect once again reduces his damage taken from non-Fully Mutated players by 75% on 10-player and 25-player Heroic difficulty only.

Patch 5.2 hotfixes for April 8

Patch 52 hotfixes for April 8
A new round of hotfixes has been released on the official site. It's a pretty short list this time around, mainly tweaking a few issues with some of the encounters in Throne of Thunder, including Ra-den, and addressing a pesky bug that has been plaguing some players working on Isle of Thunder achievements.

Rygarius
Creatures
  • Zandalari Beast Handler is now properly seated in a saddle while riding a Direhorrn.
Raids, Dungeons and Scenarios
  • Throne of Thunder
    • Giorgio's Caduceus of Pure Moods is no longer being awarded to Elemental and Restoration Shamans on Raid Finder difficulty or via bonus rolls.
    • Primordius
      • During the Primordius encounter, spells which dispel a single harmful effect (Sear Magic, Single Magic, or Mass Dispel) will no longer work if any of the positive effects are active on the target (Improved Synapses, Keen Eyesight, Thick Bones, Clear Mind, or Fully Mutated).
    • Ra-den
      • Fixed an issue that could prevent Ra-den from absorbing Essences of Anima/Vita as intended.
      • Engaging Ra-den now resets the cooldown on Reincarnation for Shamans.
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where some situations could cause players to not receive credit towards Pay to Slay or It Was Worth Every Ritual Stone achievement after defeating Incomplete Drakkari Colossus.

Patch 5.2 Hotfixes for April 4

Patch 52 Hotfixes for April 4
The hotfixes keep on coming! The latest batch are fairly minimal, but they don't make diamonds as big as bricks. They're addressing one particular bug which WoW Insider has seen mentioned several times on Twitter lately, specifically one which would strand players on a phased warship while trying to complete the quest Extended Shore Leave. Unable, it seems, to hotfix the unphasing of the warship, Blizzard's team pulled the quest for now.

And Durumu has had a bit of a change. Interestingly, it's not to the purple-on-purple issue with his maze of purple death phase, but instead it's an increase in speed for the yellow eye cone. But, most excitingly, there's a fix in place for warlocks who have completed Seek the Signal and are stuck in the wrong Black Temple phase. Rejoice, in a warlocky way!

Rygarius
  • Quests
    • Extended Shore Leave: This quest has been temporarily removed from quest rotation to address an issue with the Zandalari Warship.
  • Raids, Dungeons, and Scenarios
    • Fixed an issue where Warlocks remained in the wrong phase at The Black Temple after completing the quest Seek the Signal.
  • Throne of Thunder
    • Durumu the Forgotten
      • During the Light Spectrum phase, Yellow Eye's cone now moves more quickly on Raid Finder difficulty.
  • Items
    • Darkmoon Card: Blue Dragon now has a reduced chance to activate its effect for characters that are level 61-69 and its effect no longer activates for characters above level 69.

Patch 5.2 Hotfixes for April 2

Patch 52 Hotfixes
Nobody wanted to release anything yesterday, so along with the Patch 5.3 PTR notes and datamined information, we've also got patch 5.2 hotfixes for you. Patch 5.2 must be getting cooler by the second as the number of hotfixes is ever-dwindling, but there's still some bugs that need ironing out.

Funny enough, one of them has been hotly (ha!) discussed in our WoW Insider work chat this afternoon, and that is the spawn rate of Noblegarden's Brightly Colored Eggs, which, to the relief of the team, now spawn more frequently. However, given that the hotfixes went in today, maybe there needs to be another one to sort this out once and for all! The click-war continues.

Let's check out the hotfixes themselves. They're small, but almost perfectly formed:

Patch 5.2 hotfixes for March 29

Patch 52 hotfixes for March 29
Blizzard decided to ring in the weekend with a short and sweet list of hotfixes for patch 5.2. Combat rogues may want to take a look at the adjustment made to Blade Flurry, however.

  • Rogue

Patch 5.2 hotfixes for March 27

Patch 52 hotfixes for March 27
Another round of hotfixes for patch 5.2 has just been released on the official blog. It's a pretty short list, by and large involving changes for several classes. Before you get too panicked, most of the class changes simply involve tweaks to T15 set bonuses rather than direct class changes. Shaman with a penchant for healing, however, should be pretty happy with this round of fixes.
  • The shaman spells and abilities Chain Heal, Healing Rain, and Earthliving Weapon now all heal for 20% more.
  • T15 Brewmaster monk 2-piece should now correctly increase Stagger by 12%.
  • Oondasta's health has been reduced by 50%. This does not, however, make him any less terrifying or deadly.

Patch 5.2 hotfixes for March 21

Patch 52 hotfixes for March 21
Just when you thought it was over, another round of hotfixes have been released. Today's list of fixes is pretty short and sweet, with only one small class related bug fix. The rest of the tweaks by and large involve the Isle of Thunder and the Throne of Thunder raid. And for those diligently working on stage 3 daily quests out there on the Isle, one of these changes should be a welcome relief.
  • Statue pieces for the Crumbled Chamberlain now do not despawn when looted, which means the hours of trying to beat other players to those pesky gear icons are officially over. Rejoice!
  • Because everyone loves a laser-slingin' dinosaur, Oondasta now respawns much more frequently.
  • Melee, you can cease fearing the snail. Gastropods in the Throne of Thunder should now favor attackers at range.

Patch 5.2 hotfixes for March 19

Patch 52 Hotfixes for March 19
Some like them hot, and the latest round of hotfixes has just hit the Warcraft official blog page, this time around there's a few changes to bosses that may well relate to the inordinate amount of time it took guilds to take down Dark Animus in the Throne of Thunder World First race, as well as some changes made to PvP weapons to even out the 2/2 upgraded elite conquest gear and this season's gear.

Here are the hotfix highlights:
  • Season 13 Tyrannical weapons had their item levels increased to ilevel 498, up from ilevel 493, to match Season 12 Elite weapons.
  • Season 13 Malevolent Honor gear now gives more Stamina, making them comparable to Season 12 counterparts.
  • Eye of the Storm: Horde teams are now being awarded the proper amount of victory points when holding 3 towers.
  • Dark Animus
    • Dark Animus will now use its abilities at more consistent intervals.
    • Interrupting Jolt now deals less damage on 10/25-player Heroic mode.
    • Explosive Slam now deals significantly less damage on 10-player Heroic mode.
    • Fixed an issue where Matter Swap could sometimes teleport players beneath the world.
Hit the break for the full hotfix post!

Patch 5.2 hotfixes for March 15

Patch 52 hotfixes for March 15
Fresh off the official Warcraft blog are yet another round of hotfixes. For those wondering why we're seeing so many of these with this patch in particular, it's been mentioned by several developers and blues that 5.2 is in fact a gigantic patch, perhaps even the largest patch ever. It's certainly one of the largest raids we've ever seen, at any rate -- and there are a few more tweaks to the Throne of Thunder raid today. Also included in the mix are a smattering of class changes, and the fixing of some very pesky quest bugs that should make leveling players happier.
  • Players participating in Lunk's Adventure: Rendari's Weakness should be delighted to note that Iron Summit Guards are now properly gonna shake their body and do the conga.
  • Mages, we're very sorry to report that both Living Bomb and Nether Tempest are now dealing 70% of their damage when used against other players instead of 100%.
  • Drinking a potion while under the effects of Stealth or Invisibility no longer causes potions to go on permanent cooldown.
