Mirror's Edge 2 listed for Xbox One and Xbox 360 by multiple Amazon sites

UPDATE: Mirror's Edge 2 help page spotted at EA.com

When a listing for Mirror's Edge 2 appeared on the German Amazon site not so long ago, we didn't dare report on it for fear that our fragile hopes would be promptly and cruelly shattered. But now that a listing has also cropped up on Amazon's Italian branch too, we're thinking that the existence of the much-longed for sequel might not be so far-fetched after all.

It's probably important to note that the new Italian listing features what is clearly placeholder box art and a tenuous holding release date of 1st January 2020. In addition, the listing isn't taking pre-orders at present, though it suggests that users sign up to receive information as soon as it becomes available.

Perhaps the most interesting nugget to glean from the new listing is Xbox One is reported as the game's only platform, whereas the German site entry (now taken down) mentioned the Xbox 360. Could this be one of the fifteen confirmed Xbox One exclusives?

Former DICE man Ben Cousins insists that Mirror's Edge 2 is in production, despite a shortage of updates from either the developer or EA. It was rumoured last year that the game would appear on next generation machines, and support Kinect.

Ed is being cautious about this as he's been burned before. I say keep the Faith - this just might be happening. What do you think? Thanks to Giochi for the heads up.

Here are all the confirmed Xbox One games.

Update - I do believe in fairies - I do, I do! NeoGAF notes that EA.com now has a help page for Mirror's Edge 2. This is getting dangerously close to conclusive, isn't it?

  1. Ooooo, now that is good news!

Though I'm still now sure I'll be an early adopter this time round; I was stung by a red ring a couple of times, the eventual though inevitable price drop that follows the £399 day one cost and Oculus Rift being available around the same time are all factors to dissuade....

...saying that, you gotta have Faith! <Doh, I thought I was being clever but I just finished the article... damn you Whiffy Wilson!>

  2. I hate 'trial and error' level design, but for some reason there's two games where I absolutely love it: Mirror's Edge and Halo on Legendary.

Picked up Mirror's Edge on an impulse for a fiver, so will definitely get the next one full price. Wonder if that scenario will be possible on any console in the next generation?

*cackles evilly* The puns are mine!

  4. Mirrors Edge 2 would be awesome. I loved the first one and I really hope this will come to fruition.

  5. This is going to piss off soooo many people...
Or its going to be a timed exclusive, which makes more sense, because if it releases on the PS and PC as well they will make tons more cash off Mirror's Edge 2.

  6. Timed exclusive at best I say. No way EA is going to limit it's potential profits by placing this exclusively on the xbox one. Unless the xbone actually manage to completely wipe out the competition which isn't that likely.

  7. Is mirrors edge worth playing? seen it cheap in a fair few places

  8. I'm a big fan, but if I'm honest it's a bit of an acquired taste - lovely-looking first-person parkour where you frequently die. The trick is to break out of the loop of trial and error.

  9. Forgive me if I don't get excited about a sequel to Mirror's Edge. As original as the first one was, it is hardly a reason to buy a new console.

Whats the deal with Quantum Break btw, watched the trailer last night made no sense to me whatsoever?

  10. Aoife's doing a news post about that - hopefully, it'll shed a bit more light.

Great - look forward to reading it.
