Matsuricon Announces Musical Guest Professor Shyguy

Columbus, OH (June 1st, 2013): Matsuricon is proud to announce Professor Shyguy as our latest guest!

Professor Shyguy's music can be best described as; high energy, chiptune-electro-rocking, 8-bit, epically vocalized, highly danceable, theatrical nerd-pop. Singing 50% about video games and the other 50% is anything from Space/Time to English Language gymnastics. His performance consists of singing, playing guitar, keyboards, and drums, sometimes three of those things at the same time. Since the first album he has shared the stage with The Protomen, Peelander Z, Ellen McLain (aka the voice of GLaDOS), Samantha Newark (The voice of Jem of 'and the Holograms'), and more. Just recently released second album with guest stars such as Kyle Hebert (The Narrator of Dragon Ball Z), Amanda Lepre (of Descendants of Erdrick), and Duane & BrandO he is back to touring the U.S.!

Matsuricon also includes returning guests Kyle Hebert (Kamina - Gurren Lagann), Micah Solusod (Soul Eater Evans - Soul Eater), Ian Sinclair (Romano - Hetalia), Scott Freeman (England - Hetalia), Ayu Sakata (artist, writer, voice actor), James Hatton (webcomic - In His Likeness) and No Need for Bushido (Alex Kolesar and Joe Kovell). We also want to welcome J. Michael Tatum (Sebastian - Black Butler), Chuck Huber (Stein - Soul Eater), David Vincent (Grimmjow - Bleach), and Lauren Landa (Litchi Faye Ling - BlazBlue) to their first Matsuricon! About Matsuricon: Matsuricon is an annual Japanese pop-culture event that focuses primarily on Japanese animation (known as “anime”), manga (Japanese graphic novels), and video games. We also showcase both American and Japanese popular culture, due to the natural overlap of fandom from both genres.

We are considered a “family friendly” event. Most of our panels are all ages unless otherwise stated. We do showcase certain events that are not appropriate for attendees under the age of 18, and our convention staffers check the IDs of all attendees before they enter these events. Because of our “family friendly” image, our mascots are a “traditional” Japanese family consisting of a father, a mother, a son, a daughter, and a dog.

Matsuricon's goal is to promote the cultural awareness of Japanese Pop-Culture through related events, special guest speakers and cultural presentations.
