state-of-decay-screen

If my preview of Undead Labs' "State of Decay" had you excited about the open world zombie game, then the wait to get your hands on it is almost at an end: "State of Decay" will be hitting the Xbox 360 this Wednesday, June 5.

In the above tweet from this afternoon, "Rock Band" developer Harmonix made it clear that even if their wildly popular music game was winding down, they still had something new up their sleeves. While the rhythm game racket has taken a precipitous nosedive since the days retailers were clamoring for space for plastic instruments, if Harmonix is going back to that well again, hopefully they'll have some plans for reinvigorating the genre.

In their latest move to rebrand the 2012 fighter (beyond "complete" releases for the Vita and and another for consoles in the fall), Team Ninja and publisher Tecmo Koei plan to release a four-fighter, free-to-play version of "Dead or Alive Ultimate" to PSN in September.

scropion-injustice

The vengeful ninja from hell is coming to the DC Comics fighting game with a new look courtesy of the comic company's Co-Publisher, Jim Lee.

Lee was instrumental in the armor-heavy redesigns of the updated DC universe, and he's brought the same aesthetic to the "Mortal Kombat" anti-hero. If you're familiar with his traditional design, all of the cloth elements have been replaced with segmented armor pieces--a look I can take or leave at this point, honestly.

After the jump, listen to Lee and Netherrealms Creative Director Ed Boon talk about the new look and origins of Scorpion in the "Injustice."

remember-me-preview-3

"Remember Me" is a game about loss and redemption in a society that has opted out of privacy in favor of blissful ignorance thanks to a revolutionary device that can digitize memories which can be shared and wiped. In this brave new world, these memories act as commodities to be bought, bargained, and sold for all your wants and needs. Nothing is secret and no memory is painful anymore -- the ideal of a Utopian society that shares all its thoughts while simply erasing the bad ones. However, an underground movement, started by a group calling itself "Errorists," believe that humanity is heading in the wrong direction and the privileged few aren't seeing the full picture. There's a dark side, you'll see, to messing around in people's noggins and it's not very pretty. This is all set up for our amnesiac protagonist, Nilin, to dole out justice against the evil Memorize corporation, save the forgotten populace of Neo-Paris, and win back her memories.

Dontnod Entertainment taps popular sci-fi themes and setting spanning everything from Total Recall to Blade Runner to Fifth Element with gameplay infusing "Batman: Arkham City" with "Uncharted." It's a lofty set of ideas that mostly fits together as a young studio attempts to embed itself into the minds of gamers.

red-dead-redemption-live-action

Now, to the best of my knowledge, the spaghetti Westerns of the era that Silk Dog Films' "Red Dead Redemption: The Hanging of Bonnie MacFarlane" is evoking here didn't really get the gravelly-voiced narrator that you'd find for shock and exploitation films like "Thriller" (look it up when you're older), or "I Drink Your Blood." At the same time, I'm not going to complain too much since it's good, splattery fun set in the "Red Dead Redemption" universe and I kind of love the different titles they use to tout the various fake "scope" techniques.

"Red Dead Redemption: The Hanging of Bonnie MacFarlane" will be available sometime this month.
