MUMBAI: Singapore based Tiger Airways will offer flights to Singapore from Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore, Hyderabad Thiruvananthapuram and Tiruchirapalli at $50 (Rs 2700) for travel between May 1st and December 15th. The tickets will be on offer until March 13.

However, there will be only 10 seats available on each flight and is a promotional offer for celebrating five years of its Indian operations. But as on Thursday, some of the discounted tickets have been sold out for certain dates and the remaining are selling for more than $100.

Tiger Airways is looking for a local partner in India for a possible strategic alliance and the company is now waiting for the government's nod to start an Airline in India.

The current fare to Singapore is around Rs 9,000 in other carriers including Indigo Airlines and Air India. This is a promotional offer from Tiger Airways to celebrate five years of its Indian operations.

In a boost to domestic air travel, passengers were loaded with offers last month after domestic airlines cut fares for travel within the country. Spice Jet was the first to offer cheap fares and was followed by others including Jet Airways, Indigo and Air India.

Tiger Airlines, which started its operations in October 2007 has carried over 1.4 million travellers between Singapore and India.
