The Official Wiki Policy Manual of the International Game Developers Association ( IGDA) provides collaborators authoritative content standards for the management of content within the wiki. When technological, managerial, and social issues are considered, policy becomes necessary for a self-sustaining member-driven wiki system.

What is the difference between the the Style Guide and the Policy Manual? The Style Manual concerns how content is displayed whereas the Policy Manual concerns what content is displayed.

Alerts

Alert:Deletion

The {{Alert:Deletion}} notice should be used only by administrators to inform users that certain content is pending deletion for violation of polices set forth in this manual. Content pending deletion will be removed from the wiki after seven days. The seven day period provides ample notice to users. {{Alert:Deletion}} notices placed by administrators will be followed by the protection of the content to prevent tampering with the notice.

Alert:Development

The {{Alert:Development}} notice can be used by anyone to inform users that certain content is "under construction".

Content

Classifieds

Classifieds, such as job listings, are prohibited. Please use the IGDA Bulletin Board for classifieds. Classifieds article will be promptly deleted without notice.

Directories

Directories, such as address books and corporate profiles, are prohibited; however, authorized directories of Chapter or SIG members are allowed if located in a Chapter or SIG namespace. This policy exists for the same reason the policy regarding classifieds exists. Exception: Directories of website addresses, whether for individuals or companies, are acceptable if located in a Chapter or SIG namespace.

Personal information

Personal information about individuals, such as unauthorized listing of addresses and telephone numbers, are prohibited. The subject's permission for publishing must be obtained, and wiki management must be notified of the authorization, in order for publishing of personal information to be considered valid. Articles that contain personal information will either be deleted or edited depending on the content.
