The gameplay video shows off one of Shadow of the Eternals' "Sanity Events" and its historical fiction setting, all running in Crytek's CryEngine 3. We discovered more information on developer Silicon Knights, which is down to a few employees and has no office building but tells us the studio is "definitely alive." The crowdfunding campaign for Shadow of the Eternals will collect "donations" up front, but developer Precursor Games' policy about refunds in the event it can't complete its game is unclear. Warhammer Quest guides tiny titans through turn-based top-down tablet tactics

Mobile game developer Rodeo Games has released a video showing dungeon crawling in its official turn-based Warhammer Quest. In the video, a quartet of Warhammer heroes — the Dwarf Ironbreaker, the Maurader, the Gray Wizard and the Wood Elf Waywatcher — venture through tiny, winding tunnels and fight goblins while a pair of Rodeo developers explain the action. As with most mobile games, Warhammer Quest is completely touch-controlled, with taps moving your warriors and commanding them to act in turn. The developers also answer fans' questions while walking viewers through the gameplay. At least three more Warhammer heroes have been announced as day-one DLC: the High Elf Archmage, the Dwarf Trollslayer and the Warrior-Priest. There will be randomly-generated dungeons as in the...

The Realm update shows butterfly-collecting, flute-playing bonus features

In a new Kickstarter update, The Realm technical director Tom Szirtes walks players through potential features that Atomhawk and Lantern Interactive plan on adding to the point-and-click adventure game if it reaches enough funding on Kickstarter. The first is an optional collection sidequest in which players must find and collect hidden butterflies, which are only revealed by solving puzzles in certain ways. One example, says Szirtes, is that there might be a bolder on the ground that stone golem Toru can smash or lift in order to get out of the way. Smashing it, however, would destroy the butterfly hidden beneath it. The second bonus system is Sarina's flute. By playing certain melodies on a flute she discovers in the wilderness, Sarina can activate different powers. Different...

DC's speedster the Flash has been unveiled as part of Turbine's DC Universe MOBA Infinite Crisis with a new video showing off his skills. WildStar dev diary demonstrates the value of double jump, dash and sprint

The latest Wildstar dev diary demonstrates the basic movements of double jump, dash and sprint, and their in-game applications. As outlined in the video, double jump, when used in conjunction with sprint, comes in handy to access difficult items. Dash, for instance, is instrumental in situations such as dodging out of the path of giant laser-belching worms. Players must also be wary of their sprint meter, lest they find themselves out of puff in inopportune moments. WildStar entered a closed beta last month that will last for "several weeks," where players will have the opportunity to check out the game's classes, factions and races. WildStar is expected to launch later this year for Windows PC. For more information about WildStar, please read our interview with executive producer...

A new trailer for Civilization 5's next expansion, Brave New World, details the game's new path to a Culture victory. Ouya's retail date has been delayed to the end of June, and the company received an additional $15 million in funding. Decapitate zombies and blast skeletons with lightning in Hellraid trailer from Dead Island devs

A new trailer from Dead Island studio Techland shows what combat in the upcoming first-person hack-and-slash Hellraid is going to be like. The trailer sees the player character fighting against the minions of Hell, dueling sword-wielding undead and blasting skeletons into bits with fireballs shot out of a magic staff. It's very reminiscent of Dead Island's combat, only in a fantasy setting — unsurprising, given that it too runs on Techland's Chrome 5 engine. Hellraid was announced last month and is slated for a release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC sometime this year.

Assassin's Creed 4 devs talk PS4 development in new developer diary

The latest installment in Sony's "Conversations with Creators" series features Ubisoft developers discussing the creation of Assassin's Creed 4 for the next-generation PlayStation 4. In the video, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag creative director Jean Guesdon and associate producer Sylvain Trottier say that naturally, the PS4's greater power will enable the team to make a better-looking game than that which the current-generation consoles get. "We're going to be able to push the bar visually," says Trottier. "It's a lot more intuitive for our engineers." The current generation of consoles are running at 100% of their power, says Trottier, meaning the PS4 version is going to have details that the Xbox 360 and PS3 simply can't handle. The "Share" button on the PS4 controller allows...

Disney Infinity trailer shows of the toybox universe of the Pirates of the Caribbean play set

A new trailer for Disney Infinity shows Davey Jones and Captain Jack Sparrow in toy-esque action. Though most of the hype for Infinity thus far has revolved around its free-form build-a-game Toy Box mode, it will also include pre-created worlds and sets based on Disney's characters and stories. This trailer focuses on the play set based on the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, with roguish pirate Jack Sparrow and eldritch underwater abomination Davey Jones in a swashbuckling duel. Players ought to beware the giant kraken. The end of the trailer shows the Pirates cast as they might interact in the aforementioned Toy Box. Disney Infinity hits most major platforms this August.

Saint's Row 4 gameplay walkthrough shows off super-powered combat to the tune of a dubstep gun

Volition has released a new gameplay video for the upcoming open-world Saint's Row 4, narrated by the game's senior producer Jim Boone. The video is the demo that Volition showed at PAX East back in March, this time with added commentary. In it, the leader of the Saints — who has since become the President of the United States — is trapped in a twisted virtual version of Steelport by an evil alien race called the Zin. In the walkthrough, Boone shows off some of Saint's Row 4's more ridiculous weaponry, like a gun that inflates enemies until they burst or a gun that literally shoots dubstep music. We also see the game's upgrade shops, where the player can customize a weapon's performance by boosting its damage or rate of fire. The design of weapon can now also be changed; the video...
