Two meth labs found next door to each other in Blount County

Six people have been taken into custody following the discovery of two methamphetamine labs next door to each other in Blount County on Monday, authorities said.

The first site was uncovered after the Blount County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported robbery at a residence on Equestrian Circle in Seymour about 3 a.m., according to a BCSO news release.

Investigators found methamphetamine in the residence. Soon after, deputies found four people hiding in the woods behind the home. A fifth person later was taken into custody while walking along nearby Burnett Station Road around 7 a.m., the release states.

During a follow-up investigation at the scene Monday afternoon, authorities discovered a second, inactive lab after receiving consent to search the residence next door.

A man and two women were taken into custody at the second home. All three were decontaminated and the two women were later released.

A 3-year-old girl in the home also was taken to a local hospital for decontamination. She was placed into custody with the state Department of Children’s Services.

The Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force responded to both residences to dispose of hazard materials.

The man taken into custody at the second scene, David Bryan Ford Sr., 52, faces a charge of manufacture of methamphetamine. His bond and court date had not yet been set Monday night.

Charges may be pending against the five others taken into custody, the release states.

I wonder if they were trying to start something like the Arts and Crafts Community up in Pittman?
