Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures announced for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U

Namco Bandai has announced a new Pac-Man game entitled Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures.

The 3D platformer is confirmed for PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii U, and will tie in with an animated television series of the same name.

Described as an "entirely new and exciting gaming adventure," the game is set in Pac-World, which has been invaded by 'Netherworld' ghosts, lead by "wicked leader" Betrayus. Pac and friends will be tasked with defending the world and dispensing of ghosts.

According to Namco, the game will be set in an entirely "revamped" universe, but will retain classic Pac-Man elements including ghost encounters.

A side-scrolling platformer will also release for the 3DS. Though no release dates have been confirmed, a spokesperson for Namco Bandai told CVG the game is likely to release in the fourth quarter of 2013.
