Welcome to the new CVG

By Andy Robinson, Editor for CVG UK

Hello and welcome to the all-new CVG!

Computer & Video Games has undergone many updates and redesigns during its 32-year existence, but today's relaunch is, in my humble opinion, the most significant yet.

In recent years our global editorial team has excelled in delivering reliable round-the-clock games and industry news coverage, with more than forty stories each day coming from the UK, US and Australia. Now you'll be able to consume that content anytime, anywhere, fully optimised on the devices you care about.

When the editorial and tech teams met twelve months ago to discuss how best to redesign CVG, mobile optimisation was at the very top of our list. The new CVG will adapt for every screen - be it desktop, tablet or mobile. What that means for you is a truly unified experience - no more second-class mobile portals or tablet editions - just one website, designed for every device you own.

We're particularly proud of our new mobile site, which we think is light years ahead of its predecessor, with vastly improved designs and new functionality such as (finally) user comments.

Try out the new site and let us know what you think in our dedicated 2013 Redesign feedback forum. You can also report any bugs you encounter here (which will really help us out).

The new CVG will adapt for every screen - be it desktop, tablet or mobile. What that means for you is a truly unified experience - no more second-class mobile portals or tablet editions - just one website, designed for every device you own.

Behind the scenes, new technology like optimised page loading will also mean a quicker, lighter, less ad-heavy site.

We've also listened to your feedback and implemented a wealth of new community features like the ability to vote and rate comments, a much improved search function and a new events calendar to keep you up to date with both our coverage and the going-ons in the games industry.

Beyond our core news remit you'll also notice a renewed push to improve our feature and reviews content on site. CVG's experienced editorial teams now have a wealth of bolder, magazine style design options at their finger tips which we hope will result in our most memorable feature output to date.

You can sample a taste of our ambition later today in Rob Crossley's excellent examination of the mass-media's attacks on gaming.

Meanwhile Blogs are the new home of opinion and off-track game culture murmurings (yes, and cat videos), and in the future we hope to open up this section to reader content as well.

There's lots more to discover around the site. Have a poke around, let us know what you think and don't forget to report any bugs in our feedback forum - we are in beta after all.

We look forward to hearing your views. As always, we'll be listening.
