About UPS

Christine M. Owens

Senior Vice President, Communications and Brand Management

Christine Owens is responsible for leading the global communications and brand management function at UPS, one of the most recognized and trusted brands in the world.

In her current role, Owens has made major contributions to the company's business goals while leading significant shifts in the way UPS engages with its customers, employees and other stakeholders through innovative and compelling new communications channels and platforms.

Owens was responsible for the first global communications platform, the Effie award-winning "We (heart) Logistics" and has introduced new models for integrated communications while expanding the company's social and digital platforms.

Prior to taking her current role in 2005, Owens spent 25 years in UPS operations where she had responsibility for some of the company's largest business divisions, including serving as President of UPS's West and Southeast Regions. She also has served as the Corporate Vice President of Transportation, where she directed the coordination, planning, and asset utilization of UPS's global air and ground operations, the largest integrated transportation network in the world.

Owens began her UPS career in 1979 as a part-time employee in Philadelphia, rising through various levels of responsibility during her 33-year career, and now serves alongside the company's nine other most senior executives who comprise the UPS Management Committee, which includes the CEO, COO and other key leaders.

Owens' unique blend of business acumen and communications innovation has driven business impact through sponsorships such as the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, NASCAR, NCAA, and PGA European Tour, as well helping drive the company's industry-leading sustainability efforts.

A founding supporter of many of UPS's diversity programs, Owens also is a trustee of The UPS Foundation, UPS's charitable arm while also serving on the board of directors of the Women's Presidents Organization (WPO) and the Corporate Board of Advisors for the National Council of La Raza.

To recognize the significant contributions as a board member, WPO awarded her with the Adrienne Hall Award for helping the organization reach across economic, business, social, cultural and international barriers to advance the interests of women business owners. Also in 2012, La Raza named Owens recipient of the 2012 Raul Yzaguirre President's Award for her role in helping the nonprofit improve the lives of Hispanic-Americans across the country.

Owens is an alumnus of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania and native of the Philadelphia area.
