Habib Pourfakhrai Named President of UPS Red River District

Dallas, June 28, 2010

Habib Pourfakhrai, a 25-year UPS veteran, has assumed command as president of the company's new and expanded Red River District, directing small package operations in an area that covers all or parts of two states.

The Red River District is one of 20 new Districts dividing the United States activated earlier this year. It includes the northern portion of Texas and the entire state of Oklahoma covering the cities of Dallas, Fort Worth, Tulsa and Oklahoma City and features a package-delivery operation with some 12,000 employees.

Pourfakhrai most recently served as district manager of UPS's North Texas District, which has been consolidated into the new Red River District. He began his UPS career in 1985 as a part-time employee in the South New England District. Following a series of rotational assignments of progressive responsibility he was promoted to Industrial Engineering section manager in 1991. Habib held positions in hub, package and Industrial Engineering prior to being promoted to package division manager in the South New England District in 1997. Habib joined the Atlantic District in 2001 and was promoted to North New England District manager in 2003. He was named North Texas District manager in 2007.

UPS announced in January it was going to streamline its domestic management structure to improve overall performance by reducing the number of U.S. Districts from 46 to 20. Thanks to today's technology and the management strengths of its people, a District office now can oversee a much larger geographic area than in years' past.

As part of the realignment, UPS also is expanding its outreach to customers by strengthening local sales and marketing efforts. No package handling facilities have been affected by the consolidation of management offices, nor have any UPS drivers or package handlers.
