UPS Now Offers Domestic Express Service in Brazil

São Paulo, May 04, 2009

Portfolio of Express Services Launches in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Campinas and Porto Alegre

UPS (NYSE:UPS), the world’s largest package delivery company and a global leader in supply chain and freight services, today announced it will offer domestic express pickup and delivery services in Brazil, joining 16 other countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America that began offering the service in early January. Brazil will now have access to the new domestic portfolio in select postal codes across the country.

UPS introduced two new services, UPS Domestic ExpressSM and UPS Domestic Express SaverSM. The UPS Domestic ExpressSM service guarantees next business day delivery of letters and documents before 1 p.m. in select postal codes in São Paulo, while the UPS Domestic Express SaverSM service guarantees deliveries before the end of the following business day in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Campinas and Porto Alegre.

“This expansion represents an investment for the future in a market where we are seeing a growth in demand,” said Nadir Moreno, UPS Brazil Country Manager. “While we have provided international service in Brazil for 20 years, we see an opportunity now to expand our customer base and grow our business. We are excited that we can extend our network to meet the growing needs of these customers.”

Customers in Brazil can now consolidate all of their package delivery services with one carrier, effectively eliminating multiple shipping processes while potentially saving money. Moreover, by using UPS for domestic as well as international shipping, customers in Brazil will be able to use the same technology platform for tracking, visibility and billing. UPS’s shipment visibility technology will provide a higher level of service than what has generally been available in the market.

“Today’s economy is affecting nearly every company on the planet, regardless of size, and a recent survey conducted by UPS called the Business Monitor Latin America (BMLA) reported a sense of optimism among small-and medium-size enterprise (SME) executives throughout the Region towards the recovery of the global economy over the next 12 months,” said Moreno. “Now more than ever, it is critical to have an experienced logistics partner like UPS to provide efficient and reliable service to help businesses grow during this recovery period.”

Along with Brazil, 16 additional nations are involved in the expansion of the service which are Algeria, Argentina, Chile, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Malta, Pakistan, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, South Africa, Ukraine and United Arab Emirates. UPS has long provided international package delivery service in and out of more than 200 countries and territories around the globe. With the addition of these 17 nations, UPS now provides domestic express services in more than 45 countries.

“The domestic market in Brazil continues to experience growth and is currently more than eight times larger than the international market, which grows 10 percent each year,” said Moreno. “As the industry grows, UPS will continue to position itself as a leading logistics partner by providing key services that support client needs. The new domestic express service is aligned with UPS’s commitment to excellence in customer service and is a great opportunity for investment and growth in Brazil’s domestic market.”
