New details for Infamous: Second Son

Story and gameplay info released

A fresh round of details for PlayStation 4 exclusive Infamous Second Son has emerged.

In a Game Informer cover story, 24-year-old Delsin Rowe is revealed as the protagonist - a Native American street artist with an anti-government attitude. Rowe can control smoke (via the use of the PS4 touchpad) and absorb power from enemies known as the Department of Unified Protection.

The DUP is a branch of government tasked with controlling conduits (the main character in each InFamous game is a 'conduit'). In Second Son, conduits are called 'bioterrorists'.

Smoke appears to be the main weapon in Rowe's arsenal: he can use smoke projectiles, smoking fireballs and can execute a smoke-dash move. He can also confuse enemies using a smoke cloud maneuver, and will replenish his smoke stock by absorbing it from chimneys and destroyed cars. Rowe's powers will extend further than smoke-themed moves, however.

Rowe's traversal will be aided by air ducts spread throughout the city of Seattle, which the dev team says is not a street-by-street depiction of the city.

InFamous Second Son will be a launch title for the PlayStation 4, which is expected to release globally at the end of 2013.
