Lorna Littleway (JLT Co-Founding Producer) is a unique combination of director, playwright, actress and educator who has staged Fences, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, 7 Guitars and Radio Golf for St. Louis Black Rep, Fleetwood Stages, South Jersey Regional Theatre and University of Louisville. She has taught at Queens College, New York University, Lehigh University, Iowa State University and UofL. She is a member of SDC, AEA, DG, DL alum and Lincoln Center Directors Lab. She has a MFA in Directing from Southern Methodist University and a MA in Playwriting from Goddard College.

 
     
 

Workshops to Emancipate
and Empower

Kristi WorkshopsJuneteenth Legacy Theatre now offers workshops and residencies for schools, businesses and civic groups, with or without a BOLD JOURNEY Tour performance, as well as for individuals. JLT teaching artists represent a wide range of expertise and cn tailor any workshop for your group.

“The Blues in You” is a hands-on workshop that teaches students appropriate call and response techniques, the history of the Blues as an art form, and how to create their own Blues lyrics.

“Adapting to August” is an acting characterization workshop based on August Wilson’s plays.  Participants learn to make text-driven character choices, and how to work two and three-page monologues. Maximum number of participants: 10.

“Emancipate and Empower” is for groups already working in or wishing to form a kinetically in-tune ensemble. The workshop encompasses Theatre of the Oppressed techniques, Viewpoints, and discovered remedies. Group size should be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 40 participants for a minimum of two hours. Participants should be at least 9 years of age.
