13th Season Tribute to Artists

Our 13th Season: The Artists pays homage to the dynamic musical trio of Duke Ellington;
orchestra leader, Billy Strayhorn; composer; Lena Horne, singer extraordinaire, in Billy,
Lena and The Duke: A Night of Ellington Music!; and to stage/film/television actress,
Diana Sands, in Diana Sands.

Billy, Lena and The Duke: A Night of Ellington Music! is a 31-song cabaret production with book by Lorna Littleway, who also directs. Music direction is by Ivan Thomas, who plays, "Piano Man". The production is scheduled for an 8-performance, five-day run at Nuyorican Poets Café, 236 E. 3rd Street in Manhattan, November 15-19, 2011. Evening shows at 7PM, matinees TBA. Reserved tickets are $20 and $15 for seniors/students. $25 tickets at the door.

Diana Sands by Steve Willis was such an audience favorite at the 1st Annual Juneteenth Festival of New Plays in NYC!, JLT gives it a workshop production, directed by Sue Lawless and featuring America's Treasure, Hope Clarke. Tentative dates are in early May 2012, at a new venue, The Flea, 41 White Street, on Manhattan's lower westside.

Casting for JLT's 13th season is by appointment only through Lawrence Evans casting.
