2K and Fireaxis Games revealed the title today, confirming an iOS release date of May 9. It'll be free to download.

Ace Patrol is a turn-based strategy game based on World War I dogfighting. You take control of WWI fighter planes - with 30 models to choose from - in more than 120 missions in a single-player mode, or against other players with asynchronous online multiplayer via Game Center.

As you battle your way through the campaign you can build up your perfect team of aircraft and upgrade them with new abilities.

There's no word on which iOS devices it will support, and no specifics on the nature of any in-app purchases.

First screenshots of the game are below. Look out for it on the App Store from May 9.

WINGS,......wow, the hours i spent on the amiga playing that, great game, so much atmosphere, so many discs,.......ok that bit wasn't so great.
The cockpit view with your headscarf blowing in the wind, and holes appearing in the wings and struts as you take damage, those were the days, fond memories indeed.
