The Words

1

Even Bradley Cooper fails to brighten up this pretentious

A nestling doll of literary pretension, The Words finds successful author Dennis Quaid entertaining an audience by reading from his novel about less-successful author Bradley Cooper, who plagiarised a novel written by Jeremy Irons, whom Cooper meets.

All three men slowly edge towards some deeper meaning that never materialises.

There is nothing about this film that justifies its existence.

Everything from its wormhole structure to its long, dry patches of colourless storytelling suggest it makes more sense as a book, one to read before you fall asleep to dream of better movies.
