New trailer for The Bling Ring: watch now

Emma Watson goes wild

Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring has released a new trailer in which Emma Watson and friends rip off Paris Hilton and a host of her fellow Hollywood starlets.

The film follows a group of fame-obsessed teenagers desperate to have their share of the glamorous LA lifestyle by fair means or foul.

Practically speaking, that translates into breaking and entering into the houses of Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Rachel Bilson et al, and stealing their luxury gear.

Take a look at the new trailer, below:

The film looks like an intoxicating blend of teenage kicks and social commentary, but it's Watson’s performance that really catches the eye, all valley-girl drawl and sneering superiority. Just about as far-removed from Hermione as you could hope for, really.

Directed by Coppola and co-starring Katie Chang, Israel Broussard and Leslie Mann, The Bling Ring opens in the UK on 5 July 2013.

How exactly does this full length feature film looks dumb? The trailer is less than two-minutes long and you have pinned down this movie as dumb from that? Because besides dumbing down Emma Watson to play a yankee, I see nothing wrong with this movie. So please enlighten us, how exactly did you get that the movie - which none of us has seen yet - looks dumb? Man, you must be good.

@FBALeal: Obviously I can only judge the trailer for what it is... and that appears to be a bunch of "teenagers" doing teenager stuff, going goo-goo over fashion and celebrities, and then there is some dialogue desperately trying to find a moral lesson tied to breaking into people's homes. Sure, you can make your own judgments, but my conclusion remains unshaken.

@FBALeal - what he's done is watch the trailer, not liked what he saw, and decided that it's dumb from the two minutes of footage we've seen. I think that's the whole point of trailers isn't it? You watch it, draw your own conclusions and decide if you like the look of the film. From that you either go see it or not. I'm pretty sure that's the point of advertising in general and in particular film advertising. Another example would be my reading of your comment and concluding that you are a muppet. Cheers.
