Gus Van Sant has thrown his hat in the ring as a potential director for the forthcoming 50 Shades Of Grey adaptation, by filming a test reel for Universal according to sources of The Wrap.
Van Sant had not been approached by the studio to show what he could do, but decided to take the initiative for himself and thrust himself into their thinking.
Van Sant reportedly filmed a risqué sex scene featuring Alex Pettyfer, last seen steaming up screens by disrobing for stripper saga Magic Mike.
Pettyfer’s name has already been linked to the role of BDSM enthusiast and billionaire Christian Grey, and would presumably be favourite for the part should Van Sant fill the director’s chair.
No decision has been made as yet, but with Van Sant seemingly so determined to take the reins on this one, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the hiring process sped up one way or another…

But. but.. Pettyfer is too young!! Christian Grey is in his thirties. Alex Pettyfer is barely into his twenties..
