About Our Community

Welcome to the website of the greater Louisville Bahá'í community, serving Jefferson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Bulitt counties in Kentucky, and Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties in Indiana.  There are currently about 200 Bahá'ís in the Louisville area.

The Bahá'í Faith has been present in Kentucky, and specifically the Louisville area, since the 1920s. Local spiritual assemblies (the local administrative bodies) are formed in civil jurisdictions where nine or more adult Bahá'ís reside. The assembly in the city of Louisville first formed in 1944. In 1971, an assembly formed in the unincorporated area outside Louisville (Jefferson County). With the merger of city and county governments in 2003, the assembly areas merged to form one community with one administrative body, known as the Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of Louisville. There is no clergy in the Bahá'í Faith.

About the LouisvilleBahai.org website

The LouisvilleBahai.org website has been serving the Louisville community since the late 1990's. What started as a few simple pages has developed into a full-blown site since the mid-2000s. The site underwent a major 3.0 redesign in December 2009, introducing news articles and simplified new design.

The latest overhaul to the site officially launched on December 16, 2012. The site is now built upon a broad technology foundation that will allow the launch of many new features and capabilities in the future. The coding, development, and hosting of the site is handled by Advanced Ingenuity Inc., a full service IT company serving the greater Louisville area.
