Entrepreneurial Workshops to Focus on Starting Your Own Business

YouthForce, 2nd Annual Teen Employment Conference

Trent Livingston, CEO and founder of Geekly Group, LLC, will be leading two workshops on “Starting Your Own Business” at the upcoming 2nd Annual YouthForce Teen Employment Conference. Conference participants will have the opportunity to attend four workshops, network, attend a resource fair during lunch and observe a career panel at the end of the day. The conference will be held at the Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse and Teen Center at Rainier Vista on April 6, 2013.

YouthForce knows it’s difficult for young people to find meaningful career information and it can be even harder for teens to find jobs. The YouthForce University Conference strives to supply teens ages fifteen to nineteen with resources and tools they can immediately use during their job searches, as well as the opportunity to meet a network of professionals who can offer advice and expertise. Typical backgrounds of YouthForce teens include: low income, youth of color, first generation college bound and first generation Americans who are motivated, inquisitive, friendly and eager to learn.

YouthForce’s Teen Employment Conference provides goal-oriented high school aged students with an opportunity to develop a range of basic job skills and aims to: inspire teens to achieve their full academic, personal and professional potential; support teens’ current job experiences with additional tools; help participants boost their job readiness and effectively utilize skills to make themselves stand out, and; expose teens to different career professionals and expand their networks.

“We think Trent is an ideal speaker for the Starting Your Own Business workshop”, enthused Shawna Boggie, YouthForce Director. “His tenacity and entrepreneurial spirit is contagious and he has always been a hit with our teens.”

Trent Livingston founded Geekly Group, LLC in 2010. Geekly Group is a full service provider of digital media managed service solutions. The firm provides affordable managed service plans for social media management, web development, data analytics and graphic design to its clients.

“It is always an honor to work with Shawna and the YouthForce team. Words can’t express how it feels to help such a great organization, and such a great group of teens”, explained Mr. Livingston. “Today’s youth sees opportunity that others may overlook. It is only a matter of inspiration. My goal is to be that catalyst and spark their imagination and creativity.”

Mr. Livingston, an adjunct professor for Golden Gate University, also personally advises businesses and organizations surrounding web 2.0 implementation, data warehousing, systems automation and software development. Mr. Livingston is an accomplished speaker and blogger having lectured at technology conferences in Washington, D.C., New York and Los Angeles. His technical musings have been published in multiple blogs and specialized trade journals. He possesses over fourteen years of hands-on technology experience and computer programming expertise.
