Canadian Celebrities Paint & Create for Kidney Foundation (NS)

Halifax, October 19, 2011

Kidney disease research benefits from online art auction October 20-30

The Kidney Foundation of Canada and UPS Canada invite you to participate in A Brush of Hope, a fundraising event that will display over 120 original art pieces created by Canadian celebrities including Mike Myers, Brent Butt, Alex Lifeson, Amy Sky, Kurt Browning, Jayne Eastwood and Stephen & Chris and many more!  All paintings will be auctioned online from October 20-30, with all proceeds going to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.

“A Brush of Hope is a true Canadian phenomenon!  The paintings are incredible, unique collectibles that everyone has the opportunity to own and all of the funds raised support The Kidney Foundation of Canada’s important research programs,” says Tim Fox, executive director, Atlantic Canada Branch of The Kidney Foundation of Canada.  “Thanks to the kind support of UPS and our other sponsors, we continue to gain community support and all of the money raised by the sale of the paintings goes directly to the cause.”

UPS Canada partnered with A Brush of Hope for a special reason. Nine years ago, Darren Martin, a Fredericton employee, had a kidney transplant.  The company wanted to show its support for Darren and to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.  Since then, UPS has been a proud sponsor.  A Brush of Hope raises funds for critical research of kidney disease. Nearly two million Canadians have, or are at risk of contracting, the disease.  Currently, there is no cure.

UPS Canada, along with Endeavours Art Stuff and ColArt are proud sponsors of A Brush of Hope.

Auction Details: Artwork can be bid on October 20 - 30.  To bid, go to www.ebay.ca, keyword search Kidney Foundation.

You can also visit www.kidney.ca/nbpei or join the Facebook group “A Brush of Hope” to view the paintings and learn more about the event and how you can help find a cure.
