UPS Supplier Diversity Program Fact Sheet

As part of UPS's commitment to diversity, the UPS Supplier Diversity Process was formally launched in 1992. The program, which expanded nationally in 1998, provides procurement, development and capacity-building opportunities to small, minority- and women-owned businesses

Through the supplier diversity process, UPS corporate officials and managers in three regions and 20 districts across the country provide current and potential suppliers with information on company purchasing needs and requirements. Supplier contracts are awarded by UPS business units.

Companies participating in the UPS Supplier Diversity Process provide a wide range of products and services, ranging from legal, advertising, consulting and marketing services, to computers, vehicles, office supplies and uniforms.  In 2011, we spent approximately $780 million in procurement with diverse businesses.

UPS is an active member in many local and national minority and women business organizations including:

  • National Minority Supplier Development Council
  • Women Business Enterprise National Council
  • Native American Business Alliance
  • National Association of Women Business Owners
  • National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce
  • National Veteran-Owned Business Organization
  • The U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
  • The U.S. Pan Asian Chamber of Commerce
  • The U.S. Black Chamber of Commerce
  • The National Urban League
  • The National Association of Minority Contractors
