UPS China receives Best Employer Award

UPS China recently received the "2011 China Best Employer Award" as result of a survey conducted by Zhaopin (one of the top Human Resources. agencies in China), Peking University Corporate Social Responsibility and Employer Brand Communication Center, and "Zhi Lai Zhi Wang" program on the China Education TV channel.

More than 1,100 companies participated in the survey, which was conducted between October, 2011, and February, 2012, across more than 20 cities in China. UPS was the only company in our industry to receive the award.

UPS China was also named a 2011 most popular employer in China by 51job Inc., a leading H.R. service provider in China. UPS was ranked first in the category of logistics and transportation industry.

UPS receives EPA Climate Leadership Award

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), along with its partner groups, recognized UPS with a Climate Leadership Award for Supply Chain Leadership.

UPS was given the award due to its transparency, leadership, and initiative in reducing its supply chain emissions as well as customer emissions. In 2010, UPS avoided nearly 3 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions while demand and services simultaneously increased.

UPS is also the first major U.S. logistics provider to offer a carbon-offset program. In 2010-2011, UPS matched $1 million in offsets purchased by consumers in order to reduce the carbon impact of their shipment.

Top 10 in Reputation — Harris Interactive

UPS ranked #10 on Harris Interactive's latest Reputation Quotient (RQ) Study.

The 13th annual study scored U.S. companies based on six dimensions that influence reputation and consumer behavior: social responsibility, emotional appeal, financial performance, products and services, vision and leadership, and workplace environment. UPS ranked in the Top 10 this year and got the third highest score of all companies for "emotional appeal." The results are based on surveys of more than 17,000 members of the American general public.

UPS was named to the Human Rights Campaign's 2009 list of "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality," which recognized businesses that scored 100% on their 2009 Corporate Equality Index. The foundation is the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization.

UPS was selected for the 2008 Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), released by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

The CDP is a group that surveys the world's largest companies to obtain information on carbon emissions, identify goals for carbon reduction and gauge environmental-related risks and opportunities, and then reports them to institutional investors. The companies were asked questions in four major subject areas: Risks and Opportunities, Emissions Accounting, Performance Against Targets and Governance. Those selected have a high CDLI score, which measures their response to the survey and level of disclosure, along with the lowest carbon intensity score, a ratio of annual revenue compared to actual carbon emissions. View the entire CDLI report.

UPS was honored with 2008 Environmental Protection Agency's SmartWay Excellence Award. Selection was based on documented results that prove demonstrated creative and innovative ways to reduce carbon emissions and save fuel.

UPS Recognized as Best Place to Launch a Career

UPS was again recognized as one of BusinessWeek's Best Places to Launch a Career. The magazine's third annual ranking was based on three separate surveys: a BusinessWeek poll of career services directors at U.S. colleges; a survey of 40,000 U.S. college students; and a BusinessWeek poll of the employers themselves.

UPS Named Top Company for Women

UPS was named to PINK magazine's second annual list of Top Companies for Women. PINK asked America's leading companies nearly 100 questions related to women's advancement.  Among the questions were: the percentages of women among all employees, women among corporate executives, rate of retention for executive women among mid- and senior-level management, and women among the top fifth of payroll.

UPS Added to Sustainability Index

UPS again has been selected as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index. The index provides benchmarks to institutional and retail investors on the financial performance of companies that lead their industry in terms of corporate sustainability.

UPS Again Scores 100 on HRC's 2009 Corporate Equality Index

UPS again achieved the top rating of 100 percent in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2009 Corporate Equality Index. UPS remains the only company to obtain this rating in the Mail and Freight Delivery industry.

Human Rights Campaign, or HRC, is America's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) civil rights organization. The Corporate Equality Index is a tool used to measure how companies treat their GLBT employees, suppliers and customers.

UPS Named Among 40 Best Companies for Diversity

For the third year in a row, UPS is among the top 40 companies for diversity, as researched by Black Enterprise magazine.  The corporate diversity survey focused primarily on activities related to the participation of African Americans and other ethnic minority groups in four key areas: supplier diversity, senior management, board involvement, and employee base.

Best Green Company for America's Children

UPS's efforts to reduce carbon footprint through our "green fleet" landed a spot on Working Mother's list of 2008 Best Green Companies for America's Children. The magazine chose 20 companies that are devoting financial resources and innovative thinking to create inventive and sustainable ways to restore and preserve the earth.

UPS Wins Top Award for Supporting Women-Owned Businesses

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) has named UPS to its "America's Top Corporations for Women's Business Enterprises." The award honors corporations for their world-class supplier diversity programs.

"These top 16 corporations demonstrate that buying from women results in innovation and growth," said Linda Denny, president and CEO of WBENC. "By implementing strategic, enterprise-wide supplier diversity programs, they are rewarded with outstanding products and services that benefit their customers and their shareholders."

UPS has been recognized by WBENC every year since the awards was created nine years ago. Only two other companies have that honor.

UPS Wins Corporate Supporter Award from NAWBO

The Atlanta Chapter of NAWBO (National Association of Women Business Owners) named UPS its top corporate supporter.

The Corporate Supporter award recognizes "the corporation that supports, strengthens, and enhances the woman-owned business in the business community and serves as an incubator and/or showcase for the unique advantages and benefits women bring to business. This company advocates internal women-friendly policies and procedures by employing women in all levels of management in addition to seeking external business relationships with women owned businesses."

UPS Tops Best Places for Minorities to Work List

UPS topped the Atlanta Tribune's 2008 list of "Best Places for Minorities to Work." Companies were selected based on ways they utilize diversity to strengthen their workforces, including minority representation of the board of directors and amongst the 50 highest paid executives. UPS also made the magazine's top 10 list of companies for supplier diversity.

UPS Honored as One of America's Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption listed UPS as one of the top 100 organizations and companies that provide best adoption benefits for employees. Rankings were based on the amount of financial assistance and paid leave provided.

UPS Wins 2008 Uptime Institute Green Enterprise IT Award

UPS was named winner of an Uptime Institute Green Enterprise IT Award. Presented by the Uptime Institute.

A work group at UPS's Windward Data Center in Alpharetta, GA was recognized for energy conservation measures implemented at their site. The group was honored in the the "Facilities Site Physical Infrastructure (Power and Cooling) Overhead" category.

The Uptime Institute is a research-based think tank and advisor on business and technology issues related to computing and energy efficiency.

UPS Green Fleet Recognized by Alternative Fuel Institute

The Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute awarded UPS with the Green Fleet Award, recognizing the company as a leader in the fields of fuels, emissions, vehicles, policy, foreign relations and climate change and honoring its commitment to alternative fuels across different media platforms and marketing disciplines.

UPS Wins Mentoring Partnership Award

The Atlanta Partners for Education awarded UPS and Fickett Elementary School with the 2008 Mentoring Partnership Award this week as part of its annual awards celebration highlighting high-caliber and creative partnerships between individual schools, Atlanta-area businesses, nonprofit, civic, religious, social and professional organizations.

The Mentoring Award category recognizes the partnership that develops one-to-one relationships between a student and an adult that fosters a caring, supportive environment which emphasizes the individual needs of the student.

UPS Foundation President Honored As Top Community Role Model

Lisa Hamilton, The UPS Foundation President, was named one of Atlanta’s top ten female role models by YWCA Atlanta. Lisa was honored for her lifelong commitment to community service, both with UPS and as a leader with many other service organizations. For more than 20 years, the YWCA has honored Atlanta's premier female role models through the Academy of Women Achievers.

UPS Tops Massachusetts Reputation List

UPS has been named #1 in for-profit enterprises and #2 overall in a recent Corporate Reputation Survey in Massachusetts. The survey asked 200 Massachusetts business executives to rate a select list of 74 Massachusetts-based companies and organizations that employ a large number of Massachusetts residents on six attributes - general reputation, products and services, social responsibility, ethics and corporate governance, workplace environment and financial stability. Last year UPS was ranked #17 overall.

The survey is conducted by the survey is conducted on behalf of Morrissey & Company by Opinion Dynamics Corporation, a national leader in market research, polling and consulting based in Waltham, Mass.

UPS Receives Recognition from Junior Achievement China

UPS China received the 2007 Fall Junior Achievement China Partnership Recognition Award from JA China for its contribution to the community. In September 2007, UPS China District H.R. conducted a JA migrant school workshop on international trade at Shanghai Jiading Xingzhi School. Most of the students were migrant workers' children. JA is an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating and inspiring young people through the organization and provision of free business and economics education programs.

The 2006 Harris Interactive® RQSM survey ranked UPS as the nation's top company for people's "trust in the company to do the right thing in the event of a product/service problem, excellent customer service, and sincerity of corporate communications." For overall reputation, UPS ranked #7 among the 60 most visible companies in the United States.

The survey polled more than 20,000 respondents, who ranked companies' reputations based on 20 attributes in six categories: financial performance, social responsibility, workplace environment, products and services, vision and leadership, and emotional appeal.

In addition to the top rankings, UPS also was ranked in the top 4 in seven other reputation related categories: ethical standards, consistent corporate communications, distinctive corporate communications, correct and accurate information with corporate communications, easily recognizable corporate communications, corporate communications provides consistent messages and corporate communications that have a common look and feel.

UPS recognized by Paralyzed Veterans of America

The company was recognized by the Paralyzed Veterans of America for its enduring advocacy for people and veterans with disabilities. This corporate leadership award was presented to UPS at an event in Washington, DC at which Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao was also honored for her service in the veteran community

UPS Scores 100 Percent on Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index

UPS received a 100 percent score in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2008 Corporate Equality Index, the first for the package and freight delivery industry.

The Human Rights Campaign, or HRC, is America's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) civil rights organization. The Corporate Equality Index is a tool used to measure how companies treat their GLBT employees, suppliers and customers.

UPS Supply Chain Solutions Ranked High Among "Green" Outsourcers

In the 2007 edition of an annual survey conducted to determine which supply chain and logistics company was environmentally friendly, UPS Supply Chain Solutions was a top vote getter in the services, supply chain and logistics outsourcing category.

The ranking was assigned to UPS by Clearwater, Florida-based outsourcing industry consulting firm Brown-Wilson Group. Survey participants included more than 20,000 people. Out of a possible 10 points, UPS Supply Chain Solutions earned 9.28 points.

The 2007 ranking also earned UPS the recognition to be included in the 2007 Black Book Green 50 report published by the consulting firm.

UPS Wins National Literacy Leadership Award

The National Coalition for Literacy has awarded The UPS Foundation the 2007 NCL Literacy Leadership Award. This award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to improving literacy in the United States. Award recipients have demonstrated a deep and sustained individual, organizational, or corporate commitment by supporting literacy across the lifespan on the local, state, and national level.

UPS in Top Tier of World’s Most Respected Companies

UPS Receives Care’s International Humanitarian Award for Corporate Philanthropy

CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty, awarded its International Humanitarian Award for Corporate Philanthropy.

UPS has contributed more than $1,000,000 during a 14-year partnership that has supported CARE's work around the world. Since 1995, UPS has underwritten CARE's Emergency Transportation Shipping Fund. In addition, UPS has donated to CARE's emergency and relief efforts throughout the world, including Kosovo, Sudan, Angola, Cambodia, Vietnam, Lebanon, Haiti and Nicaragua.

UPS Receives Award From The Salvation Army for Community Service

The Salvation Army recognized UPS with the Doing the Most Good Community Service Award during their Third Annual Luncheon in Atlanta. The award is given to UPS for our community support through The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program, Hurricane Katrina aid, and the Think Volunteer program.

UPS was named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Magazine. Hong Kong Awarded “5 Year Award - Caring Company 2006/2007”

UPS Hong Kong, for the fifth consecutive year, was awarded “Caring Company” by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS). This program recognizes companies that demonstrate good corporate citizenship and motivates strategic partnership initiatives between business and social service sectors. UPS named 2007 Green Cross for Safety Medal Recipient

The National Safety Council recognized UPS for its exemplary century-long commitment to workplace safety. UPS will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2007 and safety has been part of the company's leadership philosophy from the start. Today, UPS invests more than $300 million a year in safety-related training, including 26 formal UPS safety training courses taught in more than 1,700 facilities. UPS employees receive more than 1.3 million hours of safety-related training annually.
