Recent Highlights

2012

  • December 24, 2012 - UPS International Inc., Taiwan Branch, United Parcel Service Co., Taiwan Branch and UPS Supply Chain Solutions (Taiwan) Co., Ltd, - have been granted the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification by the Taipei Customs Office. UPS began its AEO certification audit in Taiwan in November and passed the audit within a month.

2011

  • October 31, 2011 – UPS announced the extension of the company’s mobile Web site, m.ups.com to customers in Asia (China, India, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and New Zealand) which allows customers mobile access to track packages, calculate shipping rates and find the nearest UPS location.

2010

  • UPS launched UPS Import ControlSM, a new function that gives importers rather than exporters greater control over their inbound shipments. The new service reduces delays to the shipping process due to incorrect or incomplete documentation, and gives importers the ability to mask profit margins as they ship directly to end-customers.
  • UPS introduced its carbon neutral programme in the Asia Pacific region, including Taiwan. UPS customers now have the option of paying a small fee to calculate and offset the impact of the carbon emissions associated with their shipments.

2008

  • UPS combined three services into simplified global suite for shipping international air freight, including a substantially expanded express freight option with guaranteed door-to-door service.
  • UPS launched Paperless Invoice, which is an industry first and the only one in Taiwan that eased the international shipping process for customers.

2007

  • UPS relocated Hsinchu Centre which is double the size to better manage the rising freight volume in Hsinchu area.
  • UPS introduced three daily time-definite delivery options.  The new services provide customers with more flexibility on lanes between the United States and Asia, Europe and the Americas, giving businesses three time-of-day delivery options in 30 of the world’s most active trading markets. 
  • UPS inaugurates new Neihu Center which provides an extended cut-off time in Neihu area to meet growing demand.

2005

  • UPS inaugurates new Taoyuan and Tainan service locations to meet growing demand. UPS also launches 0800-365-868, a toll-free number to fulfill customers’ needs more promptly.
  • UPS launches Quantum View Manage and TradeAbility to assist clients in tracking package status as well as improving efficiency of supply chain solutions.

2004

  • UPS launches direct air service between Taipei and Europe as part of its “around-the-world” flights expansion.
  • UPS set up Jhonghe Center to improve logistics in Great Taipei.
  • UPS introduces UPS CampusShipTM in Taiwan, offering customers the advantage of Web-based shipping solutions with centralised control and visibility ideal for decentralised office environments.

2003

  • UPS launches SARS prevention campaign and provides 10,000 thermometer cards and financial donation to the Taipei community.
  • UPS launches online downloading customs declaration services.
  • UPS co-operates with Directorate General of Customs to set up an interactive auditing network.
  • UPS launches UPS Exchange Collect in Taiwan.
  • UPS is awarded “Excellent Performer” as a “strategic alliance partner in self-audit rights” by Taipei Customs Bureau, Ministry of Finance, one year after implementing the self-audit program.
  • UPS is named as one of Taiwan’s Best Employers.
  • UPS proposes the “Post-Entry Program” to the Taiwan Customs to accelerate express shipment export service.

2002

  • UPS becomes the first international express company to receive a self-audit license for its trans-Pacific hub.


1999

  • UPS signs an MOU with Taipei Customs for risk management and informal customs entry.


1998

  • UPS and the Export Processing Zone form a strategic alliance and launch an Around-the-World Flight.


1996

  • The UPS Asia Hub starts its operations.  Since 2002, it has been promoted as a trans-Pacific Hub.


1988

  • UPS Taiwan is established.  UPS now has express centres in Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung.
