Supports Aviation Industry Development and Tourism Growth in Pampanga
UPS (NYSE: UPS) is the logistics sponsor of the 17th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (PIHABF). Scheduled from February 9-12, 2012, the event is geared at spurring the development of the aviation industry and boosting tourism in the Clark, Pampanga area.
As the exclusive logistics provider of the PIHABF, UPS is transporting balloons from countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Poland, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, the Netherlands, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, and Thailand.
"UPS Philippines's support to the PIHABF is in line with our commitment to help spur growth and development in the Central Luzon region," emphasizes Tim Gohoc, UPS Philippines managing director. "We hope that with the booming aviation and tourism industries, jobs will be generated in order to enhance the lives of many Filipinos."
Clark serves as the main import and export gateway for UPS in the Philippines. In 2009, UPS also opened the Asia Service Parts Logistics (SPL) Customer Support Centre in the former hub to enhance the customer service of UPS's SPL customers in the region.
"UPS has been exclusively providing logistics services to the participants of the PIHABF for the past decade," adds Gohoc. "The trust that is placed on us by the organizers is a testament to the reliable and efficient service that we provide, especially with transporting special cargo such as hot air balloons."
Apart from the showcase of hot air balloons worldwide, various activities and exhibitions are available for the public to enjoy, including skydiving, paragliding, aerobatics, ultra-light flights, RC aircraft displays, and professional kite exhibitions.
