UPS Launches Direct Flight from Moscow to Cologne

Moscow, September 03, 2012

New Direct Flight Shortens Time-in-Transit And Extends Collection Times for Customers

UPS (NYSE: UPS) today announced the launch of a direct flight between its European air hub at Cologne/Bonn airport in Germany and Vnukovo airport near Moscow, expanding service options to import and export customers in Russia and extending collection times.

"Russia is an opportunity market, especially with its recent accession to the WTO, and we're optimistic about the future of UPS and the express delivery sector there," said Nando Cesarone, president of UPS Northeast Europe District. "This new direct flight will enable us to better serve our Russian customers and connect this burgeoning market with the heart of our European network and the rest of the world."

The direct flight allows next-day delivery service to all major cities in the EU from central Moscow and reduces time-in-transit to points around the world by a full day. Next-day import service for letters and documents also improves by one business day. In addition to faster and more efficient delivery options, the new flight's later departure time means that customers in many Moscow locations will benefit from extended collection times. The daily flight will use a Boeing 737-400 aircraft.

UPS has been offering its services in Russia since 1989 and during that time it has significantly developed its network - which currently comprises 17 package sorting facilities, 2 supply chain facilities and more than 100 access points where customers can pick up and drop off packages.

UPS's Cologne air hub is the centrepiece of the company's extensive and integrated European air and ground network, which includes 451 operating facilities and 221 daily intra-Europe flight segments, ensuring UPS can deliver to every address in Europe. This efficient network is supported by some of the world's most advanced technology and gives companies a competitive advantage by providing them the ability to reach virtually any market using one logistics provider door-to-door.
