Recent Highlights

2011

  • October 31, 2011 – UPS announced the extension of the company’s mobile Web site, m.ups.com to customers in Asia (China, India, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and New Zealand) which allows customers mobile access to track packages, calculate shipping rates and find the nearest UPS location.
  • May 25, 2011 – One year after it opened an ultra-modern air hub in Shenzhen, China, UPS announced the completion of a robust series of air lane enhancements that have dramatically improved service for customers throughout Asia. All told, the company has completed improvements to more than 100 intra-Asia lane pairs since it opened the Shenzhen hub last May. The enhancements include faster transit times on key lanes between India and the rest of Asia and between South Korea and other Asian destinations.

2010

  •  UPS launched UPS Import ControlSM, a new function that gives importers rather than exporters greater control over their inbound shipments. The new service reduces delays to the shipping process due to incorrect or incomplete documentation, and gives importers the ability to mask profit margins as they ship directly to end-customers.
  • UPS introduced its carbon neutral programme in the Asia Pacific region, including Korea. UPS customers now have the option of paying a small fee to calculate and offset the impact of the carbon emissions associated with their shipments.

2008

  • June 18, 2008 - UPS Korea becomes a UPS wholly-owned subsidiary when UPS acquired The Korea Express Co., Ltd's (KEC) interest in the UPS-KEC express joint venture company.  UPS and KEC also signed a co-operation agreement for continued collaboration, which recognizes UPS’s global network and infrastructure and KEC’s local network and customs brokerage operations.

2007

  • UPS added five flights in Korea to connect Korean businesses to major trading centres in China and Europe.  With this flight expansion, UPS serves 31 weekly flights into and out of Korea and is the foreign regular air carrier to offer the highest number of flight frequencies to Korea.
  • UPS introduced three daily time-definite delivery options.  The new services provide customers with more flexibility on lanes between the United States and Asia, Europe and the Americas, giving businesses three time-of-day delivery options in 30 of the world’s most active trading markets.

2005

  • UPS Korea Express launches UPS Quantum View Manage, offering small package customers the advantage to more easily monitor package movements within their supply chains and use that information to improve service to their customers.
  • UPS Korea Express launches UPS TradeAbility, a solution that helps companies manage global trade across borders in a more compliant, timely, and efficient manner.
  • UPS Billing Data, combined with the Billing Analysis Tool gives customers the ability to review, analyze and allocate shipping expenses quickly and easily without sifting through traditional paper invoices.
  • UPS Trade Direct®  provides consolidation of international freight, multi-modal transportation, customs clearance, and direct delivery to multiple addresses within a destination country -- all through a single source.
