Since then, UPS has shipped over 300 metric tons of needed food and medical supplies.

Following the earthquake in January 2010, UPS Executive Craig Arnold went to Haiti to work on first response. As a Salvation Army local board member, Arnold volunteered in Haiti before and was familiar with the area and how to get things done. These skills, combined with his contacts at UPS, allowed Arnold to offer significant support, including the use of the UPS Trackpad technology. For Global Volunteer Month, Arnold returned for a week to revisit the areas and people he worked with in January and support the Salvation Army in the new relief projects.

UPS will serve as the Official Logistics and Express Delivery Supporter of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Puckett's Mill Elementary School students (Dacula, Ga.) asked their parents and bus drivers to "cut their engines" in the school drop-off/pick-up line in an effort to protect young lungs, improve air quality and save fuel. Puckett's Mill has seen 100% participation since they began their "No-Idling Campaign," part of a national program sponsored by the Earth Day Network and The Clean Air Campaign. UPS, a company always dedicated to limiting idling in their own vehicles, supported this program through grants totaling $350,000.
