Activision's Call of Duty teaser site appears to all but confirm that this year's entry in the FPS series will be Call of Duty: Ghosts.
It has recently been updated to offer the following message, which you can see in the image below: "the Ghosts are real."
Additionally, series creator and Modern Warfare studio Infinity Ward has seemingly confirmed that it's developing the project, tweeting a link to the second image below, along with "#soon".
A string of leaks, from retailer listings to promotional material, suggest Activision is planning a Call of Duty: Ghosts release date of November 5.
Activision revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 a year ago today during the NBA Playoffs.

Interesting that they have a new engine, though I have a feeling it won't amount to a whole lot. It's not like they are suddenly going to have destruction and all that; there will have been a cast-iron rule imposing 60 frames per second.
And unless they do something radical with the gameplay, it's basically just a rehash with a new coat of paint. Sorry to be that guy.

No need to apologize in this case, I'd say. Not being excited for yet another CoD hardly means that there's something wrong with your personality. Many people, including long-term fans of Infinity Ward's CoD games like me, share the same concerns.
Personally, I played MW3 perhaps too much, which left me kinda burned out on the series. I'm sure the latest installment will still provide a lot of entertainment value, especially for newcomers, but at this point it's not among the games I'm looking forward to that much. Still, maybe they'll suprise positively... starting this new spin-off series at least sounds a bit fresher than MW4.

i reckon: activision are trolling the world, and will announce modern warfare 4 after showing a fake 'cod ghosts' game that just rips the p**s out of something, onion news style.

I assume "Ghosts" is a fraternity of people/soldiers, a bit like the hacker group Anonymous, they identify themselves through "Skull balaclavas" (Guy Fawkes masks) and the individual "Ghost" we know from Modern Warfare 2, Simon Riley, was just one of them.
So Simon Riley is dead, but a whole legion of other soldiers still don the "Ghost" masks.

If I'm right I can also see the single player being about a squad of them, each with a different skull balaclava look like Noble Team Spartan armour in Halo: Reach plus multiplayer with Create A Class, Barracks, Edit Emblem AND EDIT BALACLAVA MASK!
