Batman gets new voice actor in Arkham Origins

Kevin Conroy not onboard with new Arkham game

A new voice actor will be cast as the lead in Batman: Arkham Origins, ruling out Kevin Conroy's return.

According to an interview published in South African magazine NAG (as reported by Batman News) Kevin Conroy will not voice the caped crusader in Arkham Origins, despite having worked on the past two games and the '90s Batman TV show.

Batman: Arkham Origins portrays a younger, pre-Arkham Asylum version of Batman, so Warner Bros wants a younger voice-actor for the role.

A new actor has yet to be named.

Yesterday the latest Batman: Arkham Origins images and art were revealed.

Batman: Arkham Origins is expected on Wii U, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 October 25.

All good if you ask me. It's an insult to the character and the creators to suggest only Conroy could do it, just as it is to say the Joker can only be done by Hamill. I actually wished they weren't involved in the last two games because it draws far too many links to The Animated Series. That's not a terrible thing but the games aren't meant to be linked.

Are you kidding me. Hamill and Conroy made the series what it is. Hamill is IMO the best joker there is. Hell even Heath Ledger based how he spoke on Hamils performance in the cartoon.

Since they're looking for another guy to play young batman i think they should go for the guy who played Terry Mcguiness in Batman of the Future. Would be a nice nod.

Unless they're planning on making a Beyond game that links up after Arkham City, which it would. pretty much perfectly.

Hmmm... This reeks of wb wanting more control. I was fsirly sure hamil and conroy wouldnt return once we discovered dini wasnt writing it. WB have just taken arkham off rocksteady, and will now start pumping it for every penny they can get. Which will kill it.

Ha Im pretty sure gameplay made the series what it is, voice acting doesn't make a s**t game good for example. It makes a good game that little bit better though.
This news doesn't bother me, makes sense. Its a prequel but can also be set in a different universe from other games. As much as I like Conroy I felt he delivered some lines very flat and unconvincing in AA and AC (not all of them though) so id like to hear someone else do a different take on it. Hamill is iconic as the voice of the Joker, kinda feel they shouldnt use the joker in this game after the major role he had in last 2 games, we shall see though.

No rocksteady, No Dini, No Conroy, No Hamill, Prequel game, multiplayer.

All I'm waiting for is news of co op and I can add another franchise to the R.I.P. pile.

I'm okay with a prequeal title in theory.

However with no original talent involved WB better be carefull. The Rocksteady games are held very highly and an average game will do nothing but tarnish the brand even if Rocksteady release a proper sequal on the next gen.

If it is essentially, new story with new characters why not just go for a new franchise. The vibe I am getting from this so far is that it's another kid playing with Rocksteady toys.

The first thing that came to mind about this situation was something along the lines of this (27 seconds onwards)

But I can see where they're coming from.

Also in regards to Joker, could it be that we'd see him pre-Joker (a la A Killing Joke) meaning Hamill wouldn't necessarily have to voice him as he's not gone all deranged.

I somewhat feel this way at the moment. Need to see gameplay and/or trailers before I start to feel more positive.

I guess this all by kills the tiny chance of Mark Hamill returning. I'm getting more and more worried about this game the more I hear.
