4-7 June 2013, Melbourne

Australia and New Zealand form a growing hub of software engineering activity with significant projects in finance, telecommunications, government and business-process automation. It also has an emerging mobile application development community as well as a thriving startup community. As the leading conference on software engineering in Australasia - ASWEC creates an opportunity for innovation and collaboration between software engineers, IT professionals and researchers.

Topics covered at ASWEC 2013 include all areas of software engineering, such as:

  • Engineering for mobile computing
  • Cloud computing and virtualisation architectures
  • Data analytics implementations
  • Project management best practices
  • Software development processes
  • Requirements Analysis
  • Deployment and DevOps
  • Agile development
  • Multi-site software development
  • Software engineering tools
  • Software architecture and design
  • Security engineering
  • Quality Assurance Engineering
  • User Interface Design/Development
  • Continuous Delivery

The industry presentations at ASWEC 2013 provide a forum for engineers and IT professionals to share ideas, advice, and solutions to real software development problems. To that end, ASWEC seeks industry submissions such as:

  • Experience reports - which highlight industry or government challenges or breakthroughs.
  • Case studies - of new technologies, techniques, tools, processes or research results being applied in practice.
  • Industry research results or new areas of research

Instructions for Abstract Submissions

Prospective presenters are invited to submit an abstract (250 - 500 words approximately) which outline the proposed presentation. Submissions should provide clear take-away value by:

  • describing the context of a problem of practical importance;
  • discussing why the solution of the problem is innovative, effective, or efficient;
  • providing a concise explanation of the approach, techniques, and methodologies employed;
  • explaining the best practices that emerged, tools developed, and/or software processes involved; and
  • discuss overall assessment of benefits, risks and mitigations, and other lessons learned.

Authors of accepted abstracts will be given the option of submitting either a full paper (up to 10 pages) or presentation slides for publication in the ASWEC industry proceedings. For accepted abstracts, at least one author is expected to register for the conference to give the presentation.
